Compromise is an integral part of marriage. You will have to give some things up and deny yourself other things. Finding the right partner means finding someone with whom you won't have to give up your identity in those compromises.

No, that's manipulative. That's not the right way to start off a marriage, and if she gives in to that kind of manipulation she's just encouraging him to continue. What will be next?

Sounds like a real riot of a forum. I'm a frog enthusiast. I'm absolutely passionate about the cute little buggers. The first time my bf ever came over to my house, he took one look at Queen Elizabeth, my adorable, slimy pacman frog and went "oh my god, she's disgusting!" I wouldn't let him come over after that for about a month. I told him Queen Elizabeth had her feelings hurt and didn't want to see him. So he was banned from my place. After we moved in together, though, she started to grow on him. When I went to Europe for 3 weeks he had to take care of her and grew quite attached. He eventually had a special fondness for her and found her adorable like me. I don't think you should have to change who you are, or who your pets are!

NC is not about ignoring someone if you happen to run into them. You're right - that's childish. It's more about resisting the urge to call them at 3AM when you're drunk.. Or not letting yourself be manipulated by an ex who doesn't want a future with you but still wants ego boosts from you every once in a while...

Get a job that pays well and doesn't interfere with your class schedule. Bartending is great for that. Take part-time classes if you need to. Study in Canada where tuition is only a fraction of what you'll be paying in the U.S. If you really want to save money, study in Quebec, which has dirt cheap tuition.

I'm guilty of all of the above, except the part about the teenage boys. I've never been a teenage boy and I'm not a pedophile so that's out. Although in my defense I have to say that I also did it all safely and never ended up with an STI or unwanted pregnancy. Never put myself in a compromising situation. Never degraded myself. Wasn't on drugs. Never cheated. In the end, though, I get much more satisfaction out of being in a loving, committed relationship. The oral sex can factor in there, but the threesomes and moresomes and one night stands don't hold a candle to just feeling safe with someone you love. To the OP - I would focus more on finding a special lady to play with than all this other freaky stuff.

Come up with an original nickname. I call my bf "pumpkin" cuz I just like the way it sounds. He calls me "lil mama". Alot of people also call me "c" because it's the first letter of my name. (That's right - my name isn't really amber!) You could just call her by her first initial. It's personal, cute and not creepy. It can't be misinterpretted.

I hope for the sake of the doctor that he doesn't start a debate over circumcision. The father and I have completely opposite views on the practise, and I could see us getting kicked out of the clinic for getting into a heated debate over that! lol. We're *special*. Thanks for the advice guys.

My workmate gave me the number of her pediatrician. How does this work? Do I make an appointment to see him before the baby is born? Or do I make an appointment for after she's born? I'm such an amateur at being a mom! Someone please walk me through this.

Focusing on this kind of thing can distract from what really matters. Don’t expect a fairy tale engagement, wedding, etc. unless you want them to turn into a nightmare. -
To be sure, she can take another test. If it comes back negative at this point, she's not pregnant. But you did engage in risky behavior. Pulling out is not a form of birth control.

NC isn't a rule. There are certainly couples who don't need it. I've never done NC and haven't had any problems. I like to stay in touch with my ex's because what helps me heal is letting them see what a success I've become! I had one ex who had the top mark in his class in engineering at polytechnique (a prestigous engineering school). I, on the other hand, could barely be bothered to go to class. He used to laugh at me when I said I wanted to do my Masters. Well, as it turns out, I've finished my Masters and he's still got at least a year to go on his. On top of that, he was e-mailing me the other day, asking me to get him a student internship where I work. Haha! I also get better and better looking every year, which makes running into the ex a very satisfying experience! And it also feels good sometimes to have contact with someone who knows you inside out. It's comforting. But contact isn't usually a good idea if one or both of you still wants something from the other person. You have to come to the point where your heart knows that he's the past, not the future.

It seems to boil down to health in the end. If a woman is affluent, that means she is healthy enough to bear healthy children. If a man is affluent, it means he can provide for a healthy family.

This is a concept that makes absolutely no sense to me. Vday is Feb14. One day and one day only. You can designate another day to be special, but it's not Vday. If you miss it, you have to wait another 365 days for the next one. My boyfriend and I are having a dispute over this (a friendly one, of course). He says he got me something special, but I have to wait 2 weeks until he comes to visit me before I receive it. I told him that it's always nice to receive a present (I won't say no!) but it's not a Vday present. It's just a random present unless it's given on Vday. Okay, that's my rant for today.

I'm the opposite. Coming from a rural farming community, I like the idea of killing and eating my meat. I also like the idea of hunting. What I don't like is the disgusting mass production which uses chemicals and steroids and all sort of stuff I wouldn't want inside my body and which shows no respect to the animals.
