  1. If cost is a concern, you can buy mics (about $20 each in same places) and talk over a messenger program for free.
  2. 2-3 hours? That's verging on painful territory for a woman Quality man!
  3. Back rubs are my weak spot.........
  4. That. Just goes to show that there are a lot of different types of humour. Everything from word-play and sarcasm to punk'ed and body function humour. A guy who enjoys Dennis Millar probably wouldn't be too impressed with a whoopie cushion.
  5. I can't say I'm turned off by a guy who dresses well. Its not like you're wearing tuxes at school (which would be too much If you're comfortable with what you're wearing, then that is better than trying to dress down and not feeling like yourself. And baseball caps? Ugh, often its an excuse not to wash your hair
  6. My interpretation is that she likes you, but something came up and she's in a bad mood or rattled. She probably sounded like a voicemail because she was scared and just wanted to get it out. I'd give her a second chance and perhaps ask her what happened. Could be a family issue or an ex showing up and rattling her or she is already in a relationship.
  7. A few thoughts... A bit of time will help him relax a bit. I went on a date with a new guy and he hardly made a peep for the first hour. But he relaxed nicely and was soon chattier than me Also, a few silences here and there shouldn't be something to be scared of. I think guys feel less worried by a silence here and there, no? Don't force it, just be friendly.
  8. A guy who can make me laugh is a definate turn on, as is someone who laughs at my own cracks
  9. I guess its a matter of trying to narrow down the field. Face it, some of those sites have masses of profiles and people browsing them. I don't have any "don'ts" in mine, but I do say that I want someone who is compatible with my own interests. They don't have to share ALL of them, but I want someone who also enjoys video games and hockey with me When I look at profiles, I check out interests myself. I know I am not going to be very compatible with a VERY sporty guy (I'm more couch potato) or someone who is very into bars and clubs (you'll find me in the corner), so I do pass by people who emphasize this part of their personality. I haven't had anyone judge me too harshy for my profession, because I mention my hobbies in my profile too. I do accounting/administration for a bank, so you'd probably think I'm tightlaced and boring no? But I am also an artist in my spare time and I am a good balance between the two "sterotypes". The guy I am dating now is similar - he's an accountant with a creative hobby too (yay for Lavalife ).
  10. Unless your intentions are not pure... (White = purity, red = love/romance, yellow = friendship, pink = like)
  11. I didn't move out until I was 24 and into my first apartment. What a disaster! There was a grow op downstairs, the windows froze over at night, there were HOLES in the walls and doors formerly hidden by the previous couple's posters and stuff (found out later that the guy living there previously was abusive), and theft notices popped up in the lobby once I moved in (obviously taken down when I was looking at the place). The area looked nice during the day, but at night, there were yelling drunks on the streets. To top it off, I didn't realize how expensive heat, electricity, cable, etc were once added up and things were too tight to eat very well. My car also got stolen, taken for a joyride and banged up. That was the last straw. I moved home. I just got a new place here at 26. This is a basement suite in a nice neighbourhood. Its noisy, but being deaf, I can't hear it anyways so I got very good rent I love love love having my own place and my own rules.
  12. *throws in balls of yarn* Take it to another room, you two
  13. There is nice and then there is what I just bolded up there. Shy is appealing and sweet to me, but being passive and unconfident usually means they don't try flirt, don't try make good conversation, don't take any initiative in things. Someone like that might end up being a friend because there is no mental chemistry happening with someone who is passive. I like nice men. I want a man who treats me well without being a doormat. I thought I married a nice man, but he turned out to be a jerk acting like a nice man to get me! I have no interest in jerks, so I am divorced now and looking for a nice man again.
  14. Shrug it off. Thing is, its not really dating if you haven't gone out, so how do you "break up" with someone you haven't even dated yet? I would imagine they either thought you weren't interested in dating (too many chatty emails without asking a girl out would do that) or didn't think you were compatible. I get the exact same thing with guys online.
  15. Intelligence, humour and geekiness (hey, I am one too are a waaaaaay bigger turn on for me than the size of his muscles.
  16. I don't get migraines THAT often - just about once a month. (I'm a woman, do the math My cycle is rather irregular, so taking folic acid or melatonin just at the same time each month wouldn't work, and I am lousy at remembering to take pills all the time. I react pretty easily to stuff, so I don't really want to take pills every day. I wonder if having melatonin or folic acid on hand when I feel one coming would work? (then again, I'd probably be snoring at my desk instead of banging my head on it Maybe I will try it anyways and see if it does disrupt an incoming migraine. I used to use Exedrine (which has a lot of caffeine), but since cutting out Pepsi from my daily diet (and not drinking coffee), the last time I tried that I got seriously buzzed and very little sleep for two days.
  17. Well, it worked, the wine seemed to stop the hummingbird-buzzy feeling long enough for me to fall asleep. I'm just tired today. I know the exedrin lasted a bit long, but I can't think what else would get me buzzed that way since I didn't have any other caffeiene or any weird foods. Since my old trick for migraines seem to be giving me trouble now, I'll check out your tip Charley!
  18. Don't worry, I feel weird that the guy is always expected to pay. I always pull my purse out to pay my own way, and if the guy offers to pay, I appreciate it very much, but I do not expect it.
  19. Handshake works for first meeting. A hug is a little much for a stranger, no? (My feeling anyways - I wouldn't run if he tried to hug me) Ending a date, a hug is okay with me. If you two REALLY hit it off, go for a kiss, but I would be happy with a hug from a blind date if I liked him
  20. I don't drink much alchohol either so a glass does relax me normally. Okay... I'll try out glass + rustle up some bread + hot shower and see how that works! EDIT- *burp* sleepy now.... shower and wish me luck.
  21. Well, sometimes you email back and forth a bit and you realize you don't really want to continue... There isn't a mental spark so you just kinda vanish since you haven't even talked or had a date yet. I've done this a few times and the guys have done this to me a few times. I just say it wouldn't have worked out anyway and write them off. As for initiative... I kinda let the guy do the initial email, offering me his number, asking me out, etc. I do kinda encourage him by being open, friendly and fun As for getting messages, I am not getting that many, but I think I am getting quality over quantity because I am specific about who I am and what I am looking for (serious relationship). I get less "spam" than I was expecting to get.
  22. Some sites you have to pay per message. Thus you might send a wink first and if you get one back, then it might be worth your while to pay to send a message! (otherwise that's a few credits wasted on someone who isn't interested) I always look at the winks I receive and respond with a return wink if I like the profile. Sometimes they get back to me with an email after that and we take it from there, but most don't follow up. I get the feeling that some people just collect em
  23. I think I'd prefer to talk a little first. I accepted a date right away, and it was a bit of a waste of time for both of us since we shared no interests (I guess the guy just saw my pretty face, not my profile
  24. Well... I got 8 hours. I don't really want to take more pills, but maybe one sleeping tablet would counter the buzz... Heck, would a glass of wine do the same thing?
  25. Yeah, I'll try advil from now on... I'm still pretty buzzed though - I'm literally twitching and I haven't felt like this since drinking waaaaaaaay too much tea and pepsi and dark chocolate in one sitting. I took 4 pills yesterday, and my body hasn't had any caffeine in two months before that. Jen, that is a good point about rebound headaches. I find that happens to me with regular headaches. With migraines, pain killers will stop it in its tracks if I take it before it gets too strong. Last night was horrible. I read AND finished two boring books, the house is spotless and stared at the ceiling all night. Shower, milk, etc didn't work. I really need sleep tonight
