  1. I really like this. It brings out simplicity and the true elements of life.
  2. Randy(sorry going by your SN) I live in the same country and state you do. I am part of the "organized religion", I prefer Relationship. You will always be labeled others, part of life. All my life I've been labeled as the pastor's kid, big deal. I didn't fight it. Some things you just have to take. Like others telling you how to act. I figured its going to happen the rest of my life so I might as well get used to it. Are you a person that just has this "screw the system" attitude???
  3. Srvcrow, everyone has someone over them. Even the "top dogs" have someone over them. They have the opinion of the people who they cater to over them. They need great public opinion or they will fail. You will always be working for someone.
  4. Maybe the company you worked for had some people stealing from them and they wanted to be sure you had not stolen any money from your previous employer.
  5. It's pretty sad when all those jobs are sent overseas. I 'd take those jobs.
  6. My first job wasn't glamorous by any means. My first job was mowing lawns for elderly people in my nieghborhood. It let me get the experience I needed to form a work ethic. I learned to schedule my work when they needed it done. I made descent money for it, heck I was glad to have a job and the chance to earn some money. I learned in high school how to balance my job and my school work, I did take college classes while in high school so I had some tough courses. From there I was able to obtain employment at another place where I learned how to deal with nasty people.
  7. I've been getting sick lately and I know I'm not eating healthy. I haven't eaten meat in who knows how long. I come from a family that eats meat at basically every meal, so I was getting a high amount of protein in my diet. My school's meat makes me sick cuz I go to school in the south and they fry meat. I figured I was getting sick cuz of the lack of protein in my diet. I was wondering if protein shakes are a healthy alternative to not eating meat and will I get my daily dose of it if I do take these shakes?
  8. Try drinking lots of water and clear liquids that will loosen everything up. Also try, if you can, turning the temperature down. Cold air helps with breathing for people who have colds. Hope this helps and I hope you get better.
  9. I'm a Pastor's Kid and I got a unique perspective on this sort of thing. There may be some in the church who might know your friend and her past and give her a rough time. On the other hand there are the Barnabases in the congregation who will encourage your friend. Barnabas is written about in the Book of Acts in the Bible and he was always encouraging people and giving people the "second chance," good thing cause his name means son of encouragement. I want to encourage to take your friend your friend to church, however, be aware that there maybe those who are legalistic with rules and such. There will those who will reflect their Father and will accept your friend with open arms. I'll be praying everything goes well for you and your friend.
  10. I have found that when I did homework or any type of work on my bed, I couldn't fall asleep since I was associating it with work. Another thing I have found is lighting. When the overhead light is on I can't sleep as well. Maybe have him try to lessen the light as the evening wears on, such as turning the overhead light off at say 9pm and then only having lamps on and then when going to be turn all the lights off. Also I play with my hair and that is a big relaxer for me. Hope this helps.
  11. I had it not this past week, but last week. I got it on Tuesday and it wasn't until Saturday that I felt better. The only think that I could keep down was coffee that had one teaspoon of sugar and some milk. The coffee not only filled me up, it helped clear me of all that yucky stuff(sorry for the grafic description). I really hope you do not get it cuz it sucks having it.
  12. I know one of my friends was flat until she was 23 and then her breasts just grew. Some women grow at different rates. Also I read somewhere that you don't stop growing until you're 25. She could now be fully maturing to her body. Hope this helps.
  13. Why don't you try talking to a financial advisor at the school you to whom you owe money. You could see if you could set up a payment plan with them, usually when you have a payment plan they will send your transcripts. Thats the advise I have to offer you. Hope everything works out. Meanwhile if you want to keep your brain active go to the county library and check out books.
  14. Here is an article I found interesting and helpful. I think this is the right category to put it in. link removed I thought this might help someone on this forum and might inspire one to go ahead with their dreams even if they are "old" or even if they are young.
  15. I just wanted to add something to what Raykay has written. She said always attach a Cover Letter to your Resume even if not requested. My dad helped screen people for employement and he said he always looks for prospective employees who do something extra. My dad is fond of saying, "The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little extra." Including a Cover Letter shows that you are someone who is willing to take the extra step, not just do the minimum, but go to the max and beyond. Also along those lines your prospective employer will like that you have taken the time to type and properly format your Cover Letter to make it easier for them to read. Dad always tells me to use Times New Roman font when applying for a job. He once got an unreadable font Cover Letter. I also wanted to add to have someone else read your Cover Letter and Resume to make sure you have proper grammer and correct spelling. They also could tell you some things you need to add to make yourself more impressive for your prospective employer. Good Luck and I hope you get the job.
  16. My brother was like how you were, he had a paid internship and he did the same thing day in and day out. He was looking at other jobs in his field. One day he got a phone call from them that a higher position had opened up and they were impressed with his work ethic and they gave him his earned position. Sometimes you are stuck and it seems like no one is paying attention to how you work, however, sometimes things go well. If you end up quitting this job, after you have found a new one, as Syrix said it will look great on your resume. Hope things get better for you.
  17. At my school students and profs. are friends, however, I go to a Christian school and it's more of a family atmosphere. I am friends with one of my profs, she and I like the more darkish type of literature, she was my english prof. She and I would read the same books and discuss them after class. It really helped in one of my later english classes. We aren't close friends, however, we just share a love of books.
  18. I changed my major half way in the school year my Junior year in college. I'll end up having to go an extra semester because of it. I still have no clue what I want to do. I'm just getting a degree because these days you need a slip of paper saying that you got "educated".
  19. I had this when I took antibiotics. Here is a tip when you are on antibiotics: Eat yougart to help replace all the good bacteria in your body, it'll help prevent yeast infections. My mom taught me this trick.
  20. I haven't changed my diet or anything like that and I'm not any medication, although I did take Robitussin® for a cough I had. I might try claritin although I've taken non-drowsy stuff before and it usually puts me in a dream like state. I'll go to the store and see if they have any Cortisone Cream to help stop the itch. And my roomie uses Comet to clean the tub. And it is the lemon fresh kind although she used it last semester and it didn't bother me. And when I'm at home my mom and I use hypo-allegenic cleaners.
  21. I live five hours from home and when my dad had emergency surgery at a hospital 4 hours away we ended up paying a lot of money. We are not on their good list. I'll have to give all those products a try. I never knew about the dryer balls. I'll see if they have them in Wal-Mart or Target. Thanks for the tips. Wow the Benedryl is starting to really work on my body, tired wise. thanks all.
  22. I live in a different state than where I go to school. I had strep and my family had to pay a lot of money for that visit. The clinic doesn't accept my insurance plan.
  23. Annie, I haven't thought about washing my sheets in just plain hot water. I'll give that a try. Hope, I usually get them like once in awhile. Although last year I got them after I returned to school from SB. I can't see a doctor unless it's something contagious, insurance issues. I do remember there was a period of two years I would get them like every other month and that was when I was 11 and 12 so maybe this is an every decade thing. I haven't changed soaps or detergents or anything like that.
  24. Hi all, sorry for this. I am getting hives on my legs and I usually take Benedryl for them, however, I am sensitive to medication and it knocks me out and I have been having trouble getting up for my 8 o' clock classes. The Benedryl usually works, however, I've had them since Saturday and they usually go away in two days. I was wondering what I could do for them and if there is anything that will work besides Benedryl. I really need them to go away even in my Benedryl induced sleep the itchiness has awakened me. I really need them to go away so I can get some rest. And I washed all my bedding in Arm and Hammer baking soda detergent. Any suggestions??
