"Only New York Going On" - Francis Dunnery If only for this line: "4am...I had a thought that God left me tonight...and it's a terrible thought 'cause it feels like it's right"

"Ships" - Big Country Stuart Adamson's voice always sounded like there were tears in it...even on the uptempo songs. On this one, it'll rip your heart out:

"Where were you when my ship went down,

where were you when I ran aground,

where were you when I turned it 'round,

where were you when they burned me down?"

Third Day's "Love Song." It describes how Jesus loves us, and it was playing on the radio when I was in the process of losing my first pregnancy. I realized that it's also perfect for how a parent feels about his/her child, because... well, here's the chorus:

Just to be with you, I'd do anything

There's no price I would not pay

Just to be with you, I'd give anything

I would give my life away.

That's exactly how I felt for my baby, and every time I hear that song (even now that I'm thinking about it) I start to tear up.

REM - Everybody hurts. I can relate to that song. Here are the lyrics:

When the day is long and the night, the night is yours alone,

When you're sure you've had enough of this life, well hang on.

Don't let yourself go, everybody cries and everybody hurts sometimes.

Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along.

When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on)

If you feel like letting go, (hold on)

When you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on.

Everybody hurts. Take comfort in your friends.

Everybody hurts. Don't throw your hand. Oh, no. Don't throw your hand.

If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone

If you're on your own in this life, the days and nights are long,

When you think you've had too much of this life to hang on.

Well, everybody hurts sometimes,

Everybody cries. And everybody hurts sometimes.

And everybody hurts sometimes. So, hold on, hold on.

Hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on.

(Everybody hurts. You are not alone.)

"Let it Be"-the Beatles

Konstantine by Something Corporate - about the one you just cant let go

Watch the Sky by Something Corporate - about the fights in life you cant help but try and win over and over and over again. for andrew mcmahon of something corporate, it would be leukemia.

I Won't See You Tonight Part 1 by Avenged Sevenfold (before they sucked, believe me.) - about moving on for your own good and how you havta leave people behind sometimes. and also about how you will always come back to those people when the time is right.

Boston by Augustana - about how your current location just doesnt cut it and you want to branch out and see other places and do other things.

Nervous Breakdown by Black Flag - sheer anger. nothing more lovely.

War All the Time by Thursday - i cant put my finger on exactly what this is about. a number of things. seems to me its about how we are constantly battling with something going on in life in the midst of battles going on between nations and people.

Nights Spent Dying by LakeShoreDrive - ya know, i could ask Tim what this song is about but it would ruin it for me. its just an emotionally moving song for me. ive seen them perform countless numbers of times. love these local cats.

GREAT song! Mama, mama many worlds I've come since I first left home.

I also like Bea's Song, by the Cowboy Junkies. The album is Lay It Down, which I think is the CJ album with the highest production quality.

Actually, just about any Cowboy Junkies song is fantastic and heartbreaking. Marot Timmins is amazing live.
