I feel like I still need to tone up. Should I?

You are not hearing me. If you do not have the right amount of body fat your body WILL NOT process the vitamins. You could take a thousand of them it would not matter. It also sends your hormones all over the place. Do not worry about the "perfect" figure, it is about being HEALTHY. It is very damaging to the body to be too thin. My cousin has had 3 heart attacks because she is too thin and has an ED.

Well it's not like I force myself not to eat. I eat when I'm hungry, act on my cravings. I'm sick, so I havent been eating THAT much lately, and Lexapro has cut my appetite down alot.

When I woke up this morning, I didn't have room for an actual mean so I had a few spoon fuls of peanut butter. Protein.

And I usualy have oatmeal every day, and I drink milk with every dinner, and orange juice with every breakfast. I never skip breakfast unless I wake up really late.

Yes, BMI's and the number on the scale really do not matter.

What DOES matter is what your doctor tells you. If you are underweight, you are underweight. It doesn't matter if you don't "look underweight". There is no flexibility with what is healthy and what isn't.

You are underweight, so, clearly, this is not enough.

Well it's not like I try to be or am starving myself or even make myself throw up.

My mom was stick thin and under weight when she was my age, she ate whatever she wanted and hardly worked out. Same with my best friend. It was their body type/metabolism.

Well, now you have to try to get yourself at a healthier weight.

Being underweight is just as bad as being overweight. Make adjustments.

Actually the mood swings started while I was on Depoprovera (everyone I know who has been on it has experienced the same thing) and when I got off it, I had withdrawls.

Now that I'm on the pill and Lexapro, I feel much more balanced.

Well I just ate a cookie to wash the medicine out of my mouth.

I've eaten 2 regular size cookies and 2 mini oatmeal soy cookies today.

I have a weakness for cookies, expec chocolate peanut butter lol.

no offense but eating a cookie or 2 has nothing to really do with the thread. and we're not saying you're starving yourself.

this thread doesn't make sense.

Yeah, at times when I was my skinniest, it wasn't because I was trying to lose weight.

I just didn't have an appetite or overworked myself with sports or was extremely stressed.

You don't have to try to be underweight in order to be underweight. Most people with eating disorders (not saying you have one at all) simply forget to eat or do not feel hungry.

Most of what you described is unhealthy. Peanut butter, if not 100% natural and additive free, is not as good for you as you'd think. Skippy and Jif are actually quite bad. (raw unsalted nuts are better for protein and fat) Orange juice is higher sugar than many candies or sodas. Milk - mixed results out there on its value due to the additives, saturated fat and various intestinal sensitivities many adults seem to have to it (not lactose intolerance, but to some of the proteins in milk). Not necessarily bad - just something to know about.

Can't hurt to talk to a specialist about nutrition and body fat vs metabolism and just ensure you are healthy. Get validation for those online BMI numbers - you may not even actually be that low. Your size isn't worrisome, but that possible 11% is.

I don't think you should necessarily add. Just no need to subtract, IMO. Some people are just on the thin side and may even be viewed as underweight by some but are fine because that is their body type and they are healthy and eat well, just don't gain weight and have a fast metabolism.

I think the key things are that you get a balanced diet and continue exercising.

My experience with this is that I have always been on the thinner side (same as my mom) and but I try to eat healthy foods and eat quite a bit of food, enough to keep me full---I just don't gain a lot of weight. I think as long as you are getting enough calories and the right balance of foods, that is what counts.

I've heard that eating 6 small meals is better than eating 3 but I don't do that myself because it's too much of a hassle to plan that out for me and I'm usually on the go between meals. I eat 2 meals (as a student, I often get to sleep in and so I miss breakfast--not good, I know-- but I make sure that I don't feel hungry and am eating a balanced diet)
