faraday
Today I miss Jay. He's been gone since Monday, and he's in the middle of nowhere again. He thought he would be able to phone and email...so he didn't really say good-bye...but it appears he can't contact me, I haven't heard from him (which doesn't really surprise me- he's in a town of 600 people up north)...He comes back Wednesday. For a day. Then he's gone again. *sigh* Sorry, I'm whining. It's been a long 4 days Link to comment
faraday
Also...I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to get him for Valentine's Day. I have no idea if he'll be in town (he gets back from his next trip on February 9th, but Idk if he'll be leaving again)...so I can't plan a night. Valentine's Day is also 2 weeks before our one year. I feel kinda bad, our one year is during a huge show I'm in- so I'm going to be working 12-16 hour days for a week up to it, and for a few days after. Link to comment
happpybear
Maybe you could postpone celebrating Vday and your anniversary until things are less busy and just make up for it by planning a big lovefest extravaganza... Link to comment
chickadeedee
I know what you need to get him for Vday... a satellite phone! Works anywhere on the globe so he'll never be out of contact! link removed I remember when these things cost $25,000, were so large and heavy they came in a suitcase, and were only bought by companies for their staff who worked in remote locations like the Arctic or the Sahara where there were no phone lines or cellular. Now anybody can buy one. There are lots of different kinds/price ranges too. Link to comment
faraday
Maybe you could postpone celebrating Vday and your anniversary until things are less busy and just make up for it by planning a big lovefest extravaganza... I think because he's only home for 5ish days a month, we're very good at keeping all that special...it's kind of a lovefest every time I see him. I wear lingerie probably 1/8th of the time...there's often candles and toys and things that are TMI. I'm not sure how I could make it any more special. He's weird...like...for past bfs I've done boudoir shots...but he says he don't look at porn ( )- he likes reading erotic stories...so I've been debating writing one for him...Idk Link to comment
faraday
This is an awesome idea. If he was out of range more often, I would consider it....but in the year we've been together, he's only been out of range for 3 weeks in total...and I think sometimes that's kind of good because then we really miss each other. If it was more than a month a year, I would put the idea into serious consideration...because that's really cool I know what you need to get him for Vday... a satellite phone! faraday
He's impossible to shop for. He's very much a minimalist- but when he does buy things, he goes super high end...like way out of my price range. Like all of his hoodies start in the $300 range. Not designer label stuff- super high quality outdoor gear stuff. And it's funny because he thinks I'm hard to shop for, but I love candles and bath stuff, fancy teas and coffee, chocolates, purses, jewelery...that are in the $50-$200 price range...which is more reasonable for the time we've been together. I mean, he could go buy me a nice paint brush and I'd be thrilled. Maybe I could send him for a massage? Idk. Link to comment

chickadeedee
Ah, I thought from something I read earlier he was out of reach a lot of the time due to his job... But I'm sure he'd love it (maybe a future gift if you guys get more serious?) because it is not only a high tech toy which most men love, but it also offers him some extra safety if he is in a remote area where there is no communication and something happens and he needs to be able to contact help. Fun toy for him, peace of mind for you so you don't have to worry about him! Link to comment

He can usually contact me most nights...but you're right, he's flown into the middle of no where every day and doesn't have cell service most of the time. I wonder if his GPS on his phone would locate him though if there was ever an accident....I think they have a lot of safety checks in place though- like the helicopter leaves and comes back- and if they didn't show up to catch their ride back, the helicopter would call for search and rescue. Idk. That guy has had more survival training than anyone I've ever heard of. Last week they did training on how to survive if you fall through ice. They donned wetsuits in -25 and spent the day jumping into a frozen lake I think I would ask him before I bought something like that for him. I think he has a satellite phone with him- but it's the companies- he wouldn't use it to call me....and Idk how he'd feel about bringing the extra gear with him. I'll talk to him. Link to comment

I have gotten it for bf, brother and BIL. They rave about it. Of course ship it to your house! Then you and daughter get to enjoy also...one I used was Zimmerman's. The girls at the coffee shop all got it for their SOs last year. Link to comment

faraday
I love the orange ones!!! Thanks! I'm so excited to get these!!! I have an orange obsession right now...I don't own a lot of orange clothing, but I've been stalking this set of orange curtains for a couple of months...and I've been painting with a lot of orange...it just makes me happy Link to comment
chickadeedee
^^ Ah you must be well under 38-40. When you get to that age, your prescrption starts to change every year... but $190 isn't bad for a lot of glasses as long as their lenses are good quality. Link to comment
