Heather Dawn
The SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the US) has declared DOMA (the Defense of Marriage Act) unconstitutional! And Prop8 in California has been overturned. Very, very happy for everyone affected. Link to comment

Fudgie
I'm really happy that gay marriages will now be recognized in a federal level. My boyfriend and I watch Suze Orman on the weekends and she was advising an older gay couple and was telling them that because of DOMA, neither would get the spouse's social security if one of them died, so they would have to take out expensive life insurance to protect themselves. So sad! Now, that will no longer be necessary! Link to comment
hers
Super duper happy about this. Equality is on its way!! Link to comment
lukeb
It is an important step in the right direction but the fight is by no means over. The individual states can still do as they wish, it is still not a right for gays and lesbians to get married. It is good news though. Link to comment

sophie274
Glad to hear, well done America yopu are catching up now with the rest of the world I actually read yesterday that more gay Americans (proportionally) are now able to get married than gay Europeans. So technically we're ahead of everyone It's very interesting to see how much things have changed in 17 years. I hope more states will move to legalize gay marriage soon. Link to comment
Batya33
Congratulations to everyone who wanted and supported this result, whatever their sexual orientation or involvement (or non-involvement) with any particular community. Link to comment
metrogirl
Congratulations! So happy this passed. I know so many wonderful people that want to share their lives with their partner and have it recognized and legalized the same as traditional marriages. Ohhh, maybe I will get to be a bridesmaid!
