That was a lot of text for me to not read, but I trust that you made a good point. People around here seem to be excessively wordy, but that's fine, as long as they get the point that Friend -> Boyfriend never works. For the people who claim to have made the transition: congratulations, but it won't last.

My bet is that he wants to be "more than friends," and in a moment of sloppy drunkeness he spoke his mind oh so eloquently. If he's intertwined in your network of friends, that may be tricky. If he is just some "great friend" stop torturing him with this friends deal and either: 1) jump his bones 2) go your own separate ways

In pretty much every "platonic friendship" between a man and woman, one of them wants more. It sounds like he wanted to date you the 6 months you were "friends." Now that you're not dating, he doesn't need to try to be your friend. He's going to spend his time looking for other girls. Girls who will be "more than friends." It sucks, but thats how it goes sometimes.

Not trying to be a jerk, but what makes you think that? Personally, if I'm angry or depressed or whatnot, flogging the dolphin is near the bottom of the list of things that are on my mind. But that's just me.
