cryingalways
Had a scan. They say my bladder and kidneys are fine but I have a fibrod or something on my womb most likely. Seeing urologist in a couple days too Link to comment
Seraphim
Many many women get fibroids. I have thousands of them. They can cause issues with sex and having children and having your period. Link to comment
Seraphim
For fibroids you would need to see your gynaecologist. Link to comment
cryingalways
Yeah I know.....this urologist is costing me £200 too so not sure whether to cancel or not. I asked the ultrasound guy and he said probably best to still go. Link to comment
Wiseman2
It was your idea to see this specialist based on the assumption and self-diagnosis that it was urological. You needed a gyn from the beginning. An ultrasound tech is not a doctor, a gynecologist is. If you still need a urologist, you'll get a referral.this urologist is costing me £200 too so not sure whether to cancel or not. Link to comment
cryingalways
Yeah I got referred to the urologist. I just wonder now if I should see a gynocologist instead based on what the guy said. I suppose they'll tell me if I do need to at some point. Link to comment
Wiseman2
Who is "they". Who referred you to a urologist? An ultrasound tech is not a doctor. It's shocking you haven't already seen a gyn. Yeah I got referred to the urologist. I just wonder now if I should see a gynocologist instead based on what the guy said. I suppose they'll tell me if I do need to at some point. Link to comment
Seraphim
Well, a gyno deals with a uterus a urologist doesn't . Link to comment
cryingalways
My GP referred me to the urologist, but only cause I was desperate really. They didn't even really care for ages, just kept saying "oh it should just go away" but this has been going on my whole life. I don't know for sure if it's the fibroid on my womb causing the problems yet either, that's just what the ultrasound guy said, so may be worth going to the urologist anyway then a gynocologist after I see what they have to say. After all this is still connected to urology problems, so it's all in the same ball park. Link to comment
Loralora
Go to both. You need to see both. You might have two conditions at the same time. You can't only have one condition at a time, you can have two. I know it costs you but you can't ignore health. Better safe than sorry. You might have fibroids (for which you need to see a gynecologist). And you might have urinary tract infection or kidney problems at the same time (for which you need to see a urologist and/or a nephrologist). P.S: Uterine fibroids if they are too big might cause heavy bleeding during periods and a lot of pain during your period. They can also cause you to urinate often do to the pressure the inflated uterus (inflation caused by the fibroid) causes on the urinary bladder. Link to comment

Absolutely, I pee often because I have a ton of fibroids . They can also cause pregnancy loss. I lost 4 babies due to fibroids. Link to comment

Yes they can if they are really big. Though rarely do they cause miscarriage if they aren't as big. Fibroids (if big and depending on the location) can cause painful sex. Fibroids can be surgically removed(depending on the location of the uterus if they are submucosal or subserosal) or reduced by taking ESMYA. If fibroids are large enough and are located in the intramural part of the uterus a histerectomy might be preformed but only if you have finished having kids and don't plan on getting preagnant. When I was pregnant with my first son two of them were actually bigger than him . 16 of them are inside the uterus one is outside . And the rest of my uterus was just so full of small fibroids they couldn't even tell me how many . For me they for sure caused my infertility. For crying always one may not be a huge issue but definitely get it checked. Link to comment

I would've needed to be 30 and be done . However at 30 I had just started and didn't even know I had fibroids until they started doing ultrasound for my pregnancy . Link to comment

Loralora
Well I am 30. No kids. Great. That's okay it depends on how many you have and how big they are. My mom had two big ones and had kids until she was 36. She removed her uterus at 37. My aunt had hers removed at the age of 50. Every person's case is unique. Some don't remove them at all if they don't have heavy symptoms. You can take ESMYA and they shrink but you can talk yo yout doctor about that. Link to comment
Seraphim
Well I am 30. No kids. Great. Not necessarily. If yours is a small tumour your're fine. I had tumours as big as 6 and 8 cm and many many of them . If you have one your're probably fine. You could also have it removed . I couldn't have mine removed because they were along the seam of the uterus. My case my gyno said was very unusual . I still have my uterus even though I am post menopausal . And they do shrink on their own post menopause . My mom had her uterus removed at 32 due to the same severe circumstance but she was done having kids at 23 . She had 2 by then. Link to comment
cryingalways
They're saying it's on my ovary now, not womb. My gp just rang me really late to tell me I should see a gynecologist. She said to try and change my urologist appointment to gynacologist if I can in the morning but if not I will see a gynacologist in two weeks. So much to take in! Link to comment

Sweetie, your incompetent doctors say it's a fibroid or "something"? And that it's now on your ovary? Good lord in heaven.... if you have or they even suspect you have a tumor on your ovary (which is quite possible actually), I am shocked none of your doctors have referred you to an oncologist! Please make an appointment ASAP, don't mean to scare you but if your tumor is malignant, time is of the essence! Again, I am just shocked at the incompetency of your doctors! Meanwhile, this "something" whatever they think it is, is growing and growing. Good luck and keep us posted. Hugs. Link to comment

cryingalways
I've had a blood test and scan now I'm seeing a gynecologist. I think if it was something really serious blood tests usually pick that up. Anyway I should be seeing the gynecologist in a week or so they say so that's good. Link to comment
Loralora
It can easily be an ovarian cyst they are very common and not dangerous. It can also be an ovarian tumor. It can be harmless if it's benign. It's good that you'll be seeing a gynecologist and get to the bottom of this. Link to comment
