Dear eNotAlone: I have recently found out that a girl I had feelings for has entered into a new relationship. While I am happy for her, I am struggling to process my own emotions and move on. I am seeking advice from a therapist on how to cope with this situation and find closure in a healthy and productive manner.

First, acknowledge your emotions and permit yourself to feel the full spectrum of your experience. Like the colors of a vivid sunset, your emotions may be diverse and intense, ranging from sadness and jealousy to acceptance and happiness for her. By embracing these feelings and allowing them to wash over you, you will be better equipped to process and ultimately release them.
Next, embark on a journey of self-discovery and introspection. Like a skilled navigator charting unknown waters, seek to uncover the lessons that can be gleaned from this experience. What have you learned about yourself, your desires, and your capacity for love? How can you grow and evolve as a result of this situation?
As you move forward, it is important to remember that closure is an elusive and often misunderstood concept. Like the mythical pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, closure may appear to be an attainable goal, yet it often proves to be more of a journey than a destination. Rather than striving for a definitive sense of closure, focus on healing, growth, and self-improvement.
In your quest for healing, consider engaging in activities that bring you joy and foster personal growth. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, you have the opportunity to reinvent yourself and emerge stronger and wiser from this experience. Pursue your passions, invest in your well-being, and surround yourself with positive influences that uplift and inspire you.
Recognize that time is a powerful ally in the process of healing and moving on. Like the relentless tide that slowly erodes even the most formidable of cliffs, time has the capacity to soften the sharp edges of pain and disappointment. Be patient with yourself, and trust that, in time, your heart will mend and new opportunities for love and happiness will present themselves.
Coping with unrequited feelings and finding closure requires acknowledging your emotions, engaging in self-discovery, focusing on healing and growth, and allowing time to work its magic. By embracing these principles, you will be better equipped to navigate the complexities of your emotions and ultimately find peace and contentment.
