guychris14
Maybe Politeness....Maybe no point? maybe ??? Link to comment
mhowe
She broke up with you. Do you think that was polite? Link to comment
oasisrob22
I agree, I don't see the point, but then again, it's your call. If you do decide to respond to alleviate any stress or anxiety or worry over not responding - a simple "Thanks" will suffice. Personally, I would not do it if you are already 29 days deep into NC. Fame1977
Just say thank you or something like that. There is no point to being Not Cordial. If it leads to conversation, the rest is up to you. There is nothing wrong with politeness. Link to comment
Lucha
Dont reply. For all she knows you're out there having a blast of a time, partying and celebrating your bday. Link to comment
Twidom
"Happy Birthday. I'm out of your life and don't want back in" Geez that's nice. Link to comment
Edmund Exley
I think you can reply something as simple as "thanks" without "going for the friendship" If she insists on further conversation I would break it off or ignore it Link to comment
wilyone 11
I agree with Edmund. "Thanks" shows a certain personal power and grace. No response says I am really bitter and hurting badly. Link to comment
pebbles111
I think you can reply something as simple as "thanks" without "going for the friendship" If she insists on further conversation I would break it off or ignore it It really depends on the circs of your break up, if it were reasonably amicable I would lean towards this also. guychris14
Thanks everyone, I haven't done anything yet, and really appreciate all your replies and the sound advice.....im not sure why its such a big deal to me so just may say thanks and be done with it...... Link to comment
NoIdea2013
I'm with Edmund. A simple text thanking them, but not engaging in further conversation is the best way IMO Link to comment
CleoC
I didn't reply on my birthday (which was a few weeks ago) and I don't regret it at all. But if you feel that in the future it's going to be awkward if you see him, then just say a simple "Thank you" and leave it there. Link to comment
guychris14
Ok...I decided to just send a 'thank you' and be done with it......also it wont be weird now should I run into her at work. Now back to moving forwards and NC..... Thanks everyone . Link to comment
oasisrob22
You made a fine decision. I don't think you could do any wrong either way. Now, head up and stick to NC. Link to comment

ALovingKitten
Thanks everyone, I haven't done anything yet, and really appreciate all your replies and the sound advice.....im not sure why its such a big deal to me so just may say thanks and be done with it...... That is what I would do, probably took a lot for her to send that good wishes happy bday text to you no reason to ignore can be polite back and leave it at that. Link to comment
No1
shoot, just reply, if its causing you this much confusion, just say "thank you" and send it. Then delete the Text message. To me thats the polite thing to do. Dont overthink it, dont think as to why she did, dont analyze it. Just send a "thank you" and give it no other thought Link to comment
