Applewhite
I have white asparagus here, never cooked it before. Is it cooked the same as green? Link to comment
chasey
I've never tried it but I'd try cooking it the same way, can't see why that wouldn't work. Link to comment
Alezia
Yeah, i'd try the same way. I think you can just virtually boil all veggies and they will taste good. If I was having a buffet it wouldn't be too bad, but when you are served a plate of speggathi.. it's a bit impossible :S Link to comment
Alezia
I think I'm going to be forced to switch to phase 2 from Friday. It's just impossible to stick to something this strict if you need to eat out at other people's places etc... =\ Link to comment
chasey
Why would you have to switch on friday, are you going somewhere for the weekend? Link to comment
Applewhite
Aww common don't let us down. Why do you HAVE TO eat at other peoples places? You definitely can't bring your own? You can ask for ideas if you need to. I have plenty! Link to comment
Alezia
My bf's parents are leaving for mexico for 6 months this weekend... they invited us for supper. It would be really mean to refuse lol. If it's a buffet style thing (like for the lunch) it's easier. I'll still be on the South Beach, just phase 2. I just don't see how I bring food and do this politely... :S Link to comment
chasey
Is there anyway to just not eat any pasta/rice/potatoes and stick to the meat and veggies they serve? It might not be totally strict to plan, but would be pretty close. If it's just one or two meals eat them then get back on plan when you get home. Link to comment
Applewhite
I would thing there would be pleanty of phase 1 options in a buffet type of meal. Am I wrong? Link to comment

I'm sure you could eat the meat, veggies and salad, etc. Link to comment

Applewhite
What is the real difference of phase 2 and 3? Link to comment
chasey
Phase 2: until you reach your goal weight Phase 3: This is a lifestyle change. Once you reach your weight loss goal, you'll continue on to Phase 3 where you'll follow the principles of The South Beach Diet that you learned in the first two phases. Phase 3 isn't about abandoning the diet and eating anything you want, it's about continuing to make smart food choices. Experiment with new recipes and ingredients, enjoy your new lifestyle, and know that weight loss can greatly improve your overall health. You may have started on The South Beach Diet merely hoping to lose weight. If you adopt it and stick with it, you will surely accomplish that much, but you'll also do a lot more for yourself. And all of it very good because your weight loss can help improve your overall health. No foods need to be avoided during Phase 3, so there is no food list you need to follow. If you find that you've gained five pounds or so back, then get on Phase 1 for a while, until you're back where you want to be. Link to comment

That's all great. I have a hard time not eating after 7pm, I always want something like chips or popcorn. Now, since I don't really like dessert right after dinner I save it until later. Seems to work. Link to comment
Applewhite
Well its almost 7, and I am still full from my 'lunch' so I guess I'll skip both pudding and dinner today? I swear I try, but I just cant seem to make the timing of meals work for some reason Either I'm gonna skip or I eat another snack around 8 or so. What do you think? I will sleep at around 12, so I will have plenty of time between the pudding and bed... Link to comment
chasey
I think a snack around 8 is a good idea. That way your body isn't going until morning without anything, will keep the metabolism going. Link to comment
Alezia
That's what I mean... for a buffet (for the lunch of the baby shower) it's easy to pick and choose but when it's not a buffet (the supper at his parents) setting, it's a lot harder :S. Link to comment
Applewhite
Oh. I thought you wrote it WAS a buffet. my bad. Well if you ordered fish say.. Doesn't it come with a salad? Where are you going? Maybe we will have some ideas... Unless you WANT to slip Remember those clothes.....and how much they cost............. Link to comment
Applewhite
And for the snacks, nuts should be easy enough to carry! Link to comment
Alezia
Oh, I am not going to a restaurant where I can order what I want. I am going to their house =\ I would rather not cheat but not at the expense of looking like a stuck-up biatch. Link to comment
Applewhite
Ok. Now I agree. That's tricky. But unless you have lasagna for dinner, you can still decline the pasta/rice and ask for a second serving of salad no? Perhaps you can convince your 'husband' of making a request for a specific meal that would work for the diet. This way it will seem as if he's asking for a specific dish from his mommy. No? Alezia
Yeah I am hoping it will be something like that =) I guess I will see how it goes.... =\ Link to comment
