  1. I hate that. re: people taking advantage Those are really long days!! Holy moly. Hats off to you.
  2. I agree. The labour job or night shift position might always be there too. The first thing I thought was Amazon's warehouses. They are always hiring and so are local grocery stores for stocking/inventory or order-filling. I don't think you're missing out if those particular jobs are in high demand. I also thought about sectors right now that are doing really well such as meal prep companies or meals to go. I don't know what you do exactly but could you look at companies like that to see if they are hiring in the sort of positions you are looking for?
  3. Do you get weekends off? Hope things go a bit more smoothly next week. Hard not to get caught up with the politics.
  4. That's good. It sounds like cancelling is a better choice. Overnight work is tough. It might grind you down too and exhaust you. Better will come along, as you say.
  5. Part time still gives you flexibility (hours outside of the 35-40 hr work week) to attend other job interviews or not be as pressured to find a full time job knowing that you have something tiding you over. It might also look good on a resume. Have you canceled already?
  6. I've had to double up on some tasks to either help out other colleagues or take over certain things also. This sounds very frustrating if you don't see an end in sight. I sort of took on the extras also and the whole covid situation seems to have oddly worked in my favour. I didn't ask for this though. It was also difficult having some difficult conversations with other employees earlier in the year. Whenever you can try to make lemonade out of these lemons. Don't get me wrong - it's not easy. I take it all out on the driving range and I walk a lot. I walk maybe 8-10 km every evening across a couple of beaches. It overlooks the mountains and I catch sunsets over the ocean on the west so no complaints here on the exercise part. I feel this is vital for me or I'd probably not be as excited every day to work. Also, every time I want to punch someone in the face I do squats. This also helps. The walks though... are divine. I'd say I'm pretty happy overall but it wasn't like this the whole 2020.
  7. That sounds great. I've actually used those screens before or something like that. The ones I had were from Home Depot and put it on the balcony doors of an older apartment. It worked very well! Hope you get some relief with AC soon. reinvent, is there a contact person or two main contact people for the different projects at the top? They can filter the info down to their people if needed. I hate that feeling at work, dreading the next day.
  8. I shipped it back and it cost $10. At least the lady at the postal office was very pleasant. It was nice chatting.
  9. That's too bad. I was thinking of returning the ear wax removers. I used it and it removed a bit too much wax. Not what I expected. lol It was just a small gift I wanted to give a friend, a small pendant. I think I'll return it. I know another place that sells something nicer.
  10. What about this? It's installed with adhesive tape and is removable. https://www.amazon.ca/APALUS%C2%AE-Magnetic-Magnetics-Magnets-Automatically/dp/B012D5KHO8/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=screen+door&qid=1598376412&sr=8-5
  11. I bought something on Amazon and it was not what I expected. Not sure whether to keep it.
  12. Yesterday seems easy breezy. I love days like that where there are no crowds and no waiting. I hope today's the same for you!
  13. I agree. It's so great being out with friends and good company!
  14. Keep your spirits up. Glad you're leaving. They sound ..not so great. You can do better, Bolt. Rooting for you!
  15. Balsamic fig (vinegar) and black truffle oil. Great for salads.
  16. So great to hear! Did she give you some sort of timeline as in she'll get back to you within a week or so or are you also free to check in with her (have her contact details)?
  17. That's great! You've got lots of experience. I'm sure you'll nail it!
  18. So very welcome... not much else to do but laugh it off, I think. I always think it reflects on the other person.
  19. Vancouver, I give up. Let's have more of the spectacular lighting and clouds. It becomes you.
  20. Don't you just love it when the peanut gallery comes rolling around down the hill to make comments about a context they know nothing about? This reminds me of when I was driving down a street in my neighbourhood going to meet a friend in town and the car two cars up slammed on the brakes, forcing the first car and my car to brake hard. It was doing a left turn and the street was wide enough for those going straight to pass carefully. As I'm shoulder checking, a grumpy person coming out leisurely decides to come up to both cars and hit the sides of both the car infront of mine and mine and the rest was unintelligible. There was no damage to my car but it was all a much ado over nothing and the pedestrian was nowhere close to us but decided to walk right up and hit our cars. I had to shake my head. I forgot all about that but your story about your rude and clueless (/not so informed) neighbour above reminded me of it!
  21. Sounds horrible, Batya. Sorry to hear that.
  22. That's great! Good to hear. Do you have allergies?
