Taboo
I just recently had the experience of watching the movie Better Than Chocolate and wanted to share with everyone how wonderful it is! I don't usually watch many gay/lesbian movies because I'm just coming to terms with my own lesbian identity and have always felt uncomfortable for some reason watching things like this. But this movie just blew me away, it made me feel empowered and just really good afterwards. I loved the openess of the whole movie and it gave me hope that I can have something like that myself. I was just very inclined to write in here to reccommend this movie to those who havent already seen it because it was really inspiring and I wanted to pass it on to others! Does anyone else have any other great hay/lesbian movies that they've seen? I've been looking in to renting some more but a lot of them seem to be more drama filled and I'd much rather watch a comedy or romantic comedy type of movie. Any ideas?? 1 Link to comment
robowarrior
ehm ok just don't go thinking 'real life is like the movies' , be like a castle gate , and close yourself to bad people/things/events and only open up to good people/things/events, you might have become too eager , cuz in reality life is a minefield and you have to be carefull with who you choose as a partner, and what steps you make. Not to burst your bubble but it isn't always a bed of roses =\ Link to comment
Deviant_Kate
"But I'm a Cheerleader" is a gay-themed romantic comedy. I can't say it's necessarily going to have a profound emotional effect on you, but I think it's hilarious. Link to comment
Taboo
I'm not saying that now that I've watched this one movie my life will be only good from now on. I just happened to enjoy it a lot and I don't think that my happiness with seeing how open people can potentially be with this particualr situation is necessarily a bad thing. I've been hiding behind who I am and fighting it back my whole life and the process of coming to terms with who I really am is very hard and I enjoyed watching something that was uplifting and that showed how open something like this can be. The movie wasnt all rainbows and unicorns either, they did a great job showing the negative side as well, showing the violence and hate that also comes with the openess of being gay/lesbian which made it more realistic. I know movies arent real life - I'm not going to go watch Spiderman and try to get bit by a spider tomorrow so I can get superpowers... I just thought I'd post something positive to the site about something I was excited about is all. Link to comment
woah_jaxsta
I really enjoyed 'Loving Annabelle', Although that is quite a drama and not exactly a comedy. Another movie i enjoyed was 'Aprils Shower'. Link to comment
