porn vs. prostitution

Recommended Posts

here's something ive been pondering for a little while now. i just want to see what you all think about it...

where exactly is the line between prostitution and porn?

BOTH get paid to have sex...what is the difference?

they're the same basic principle but one is illegal and the other isnt...

In the past the police has tried to bust porn companies for prostitution, but it didn't work. You can research the legal rulings as to why it's not concidered prostitution, yet I think it has to do with the fact that in prostitution their is a payee and payor. Meaning that the "John" pays for sexual gratification and the "prostitute" receives the pay for the service.

Now in porn both parties are being compensated for the sex act by the producers that do not benefit themselves from the sexual pleasure act, only by sale of the product, which is protected by the 1st Amandment as free speech.

I believe it comes down to who the victims of the sex for cash act. Prostitution can contribute to the mental delinquency of both "John" and "Prostitute" thereby creating an underground economy dominated by unlawfull characters. Porn on the other hand has created an economic market that can be inluenced by government rules and private industry standards to regulate the economic wellness of the sector thereby maintaining a continuing growth of such market and the actors understand their role in this as victimless contributers.

Haha wow...you're right, I've never even thought of this. I never thought of the double standard in that...so...*hypothetically*, if I ever wanted to be with a prostitute, and got caught, all I have to do is claim she was going to pay me for the services I gave her too...and according to government regulations it would be legal(like porn). The only question I have is the fact that...isn't porn paid by a third party(i.e. production team?, not actor to actor...so maybe my idea wouldn't work) America's so messed up...and god knows I would never get away with that lol

I was expressing an idea as to the difference, not supporting either position. My own belief is that this is all due to the mental problems that both the patrons and workers have which contributes to the downward moral corruption of the human soul in porn, prostitution, stripping, etc.

As for the tax issue this falls under states right according to our founding fathers, thereforeeee call your state to make sure they get their cut with out regards as to what all this does to the human mental condition.

Very funny. Well, if you want to find a loop hole, there it is. Just start a legal entity under your state's department of corporations rules for an entertainment business and then have your legal third party pay for the production of what ever nefarious things you want to commit. Remember that in the end this will all be held agaist you by the ultimate judge, God.

Porn falls under the veil of "acting", and freedom of expression, or "art" (a real stretch) and the "actors" involved are paid legal salaries and all of the acts are consented to and taxed.

I do consider porn to simply be a form of legalized prostitution- but the context is different than that of people on streetcorners or in brothels.

but the basic act of being a porn star is to still have sex for money...just like a prostitute. im not talking about watching it

Pornography is safer - you're not alone with a stranger - you're on a set surrounded by people, having sex with someone you know isn't going to knock you up or beat you up or give you a disease.

Other than that...I don't see much difference besides the level of privacy.
