What size do you consider a BBW ?

And as for BBW and BHM being the new "average"---NO. It's not. While the average person may be considered clinically overweight, they usually are not that large. Last time I heard, the average american woman was a size 14....even though that doesn't make sense, cause I've also heard that the average american woman is 5'4 and 140...and I weigh just below that and wear a size 7 or 9! you really can't trust these averages, imo.

I actually too am 5' 8" & wear size 18.

I on the other hand do consider myself a bbw, for I am the biggest I've ever been.

I was called thick 80lbs ago. I gained after having a back injury, not being very active since the injury & quitting smoking.

I read your thread then went & asked my man (who got with me 80lbs lighter ago) if he'd consider me a bbw, he said no. I said, well.... he & others called me thick 80lbs ago, No way, I still can't be considered thick! I don't claim to be huge or the biggest in the world but do know that I am big so although I too don't like the term, just because I ain't happy with being as big as I've gotten, I think I am a bbw!

*My Opinion*

25 kg (55 lb) above healthy weight for a given height is BBW? So what's your definition of obese?

So a woman who weighs 89kg (196 lb) and is 5'2" is "plus size"? I'd have thought that is morbidly obese. And above 140kg (308 lb!!!) is SBBW?? This is clearly LW (land whale) status.

I love the terms obese women use to describe themselves. Marketing at its finest (and most misleading).

WOW, was that rude. I'm not even overweight, but that just came off incredibly thoughtless. There could be people on this forum at that size! You should really think before you type, next time.

Plus size is for clothes. Never use it to label a person.

However, there is a problem with these marking terms (and BBW IS a marketing term, for dating and even for porn), Looking at your picture If you said you were "curvy", and showed up at my door I wouldn't blink an eye, because you're what I would expect curvy to be: A little overweight but well-proportioned and well-distributed in her weight. However, to another dude, curvy might conjure up images of Christina Hendricks, and he may be disappointed. Hendricks, certainly curvy, is to me is COMPLETELY normal and healthy. Because of her large breast I'd probably label her "voluptuous" The epitome of hotness as late as the 60s, like Marilyn Monroe.

So, yeah, I think curvy would be apt, but just understand that all these buzzwords are completely subjected to guys. If a guy watches porn featuring larger women, a BBW most likely brings up images FAR larger than you, but even there, there is variation.

And "Land Whale"? That is not a marketing term. There is no "land whale" fetish, and women do not call themselves land whales to attract men. That's an insult pure and simple and was completely uncalled for. If you wish any respect and credibility around here you should apologize, Diabolik.

Are you kidding unreasonable? What Diabolik said was utterly hilarious. When he posted the new term Land Whale I was laughing so hard I had tears rolling down my eyes. That is utterly hilarious, and hyperbolic genius. You're going to ask him to apologize? Here's an idea, don't ask people to apologize when they make 1 hilarious comment and then spend 7 pages detailing why he said it. I joined this thing specifically to comment on this thread nobody had Diabolik's back when this thread was hot but I would have had I been around. What's the point of commenting on threads if people's feelings are going to be hurt every 4 sentences. One more idea, get some thicker skin. I could go search the internet for things I find offensive and hurt my feelings and you know what, if they were presented in good taste (which this was) I would laugh my ass off. Nothing vulgar was said, nothing demeaning. And you can't tell me Land Whale is demeaning there was no statement as to whether he thought being a land whale was good bad or otherwise, for all you know he could have been into land whales, and preferred the term. Then who's offending who? This can all be summed up -albeit a year later- with a comment like: "Everyone loosen their belt buckles". Figuratively and literally, this asks participants in this thread to relax about they're personal issues, putting them aside for a broader perspective. Also, if all of the overweight women were so happy and confident about their weight then they could laugh this off and it wouldn't have been a big deal to begin with. Practice what you preach self-confident body-loving women and exercise the right to laugh at a good example of exaggeration.

Directly addressing the OP question:

I'm 5'2". The heaviest I've allowed myself to get is about 135. I was pretty thick at that weight and quite uncomfortable in my body. With that being said, I surmise that if I got over 150 lbs at my height I'd consider myself fat or "BBW".
