Super dry!!

My skin & especially my lips are so dry! I started taking accutane & these are the common side effects, but I need to find some good chapstick. Right now I'm using Carmex & this Lip Medex stuff by Blistex, but my lips only feel better when they are coated with chapstick & they aren't getting any better otherwise. Does anyone have any chapstick they've found to be really, really effective?

i had really chapped lips a few months ago and my dermatologist told me to use Aquaphor. that really is the best one out there i think. i use it throughout the day and make sure i put it on before bed.

use the actual chapstick brand. keep it on constant. don't use carmex. i had the same problem. i like the black stick wrapper one.

I've found that Burt's Bees works the best. The medicated chapsticks seem to just make things worse and my lips become dependent on them. Beeswax ones work better for me.

i 2nd beeswax. and invest in palmer's cocoa butter- the actual butter in a jar, not the bottle. i have ungodly dry skin and that is the only thing that gets to be normal.

I used it during and after accutane. Works best and you can find it everywhere.

My daughter gets chapped lips if she doesn't use something several times throughout the day.

 

We use Chapstick. Check them out closely - they have different types - Some that are just SPF's, some medicated, some just for dry lips.

Chapstick Lip Butter in a light purple wrapper is soooo good. It works!!!

I've also found that alot of chapped lips won't get better b/c of the buildup of dead skin. Exfoliating your lips when they are chapping really really helps.

 

The easiest and cheapest way to do it is to simply brush your lips with your toothbrush (messy with toothpaste) rinse off, dry and then put on chapstick or at night even straight vaseline.

 

I echo that I don't like carmex, I like plain black wrapper chapstick, burt's beeswax or vaseline.

I agree with the Chapstick Natural lip balm suggestion - it's really good and it contains a lot of naturally moisturizing ingredients (i've been using it for a long time)

I used Carmex when I was on Roaccutane and found it was good. But I don't use it anymore - I don't like the smell. I agree with the Chapstick - I use that every day and love it. I get the strawberry one, hehe.
