mhowe
Safely home and very tired. We left France on Thurs morning ferry at 8:15 am ferry, train to London to spend the night and get up to start trek home....landing in USA and final destination at 11:30pm....or 4:30am Europe time. Woof. Spent most of ride ho.e texting friends and family that we had gotten out of France before borders were closed. Up this am early and watching the news. Unfathomable. Link to comment

mhowe
Thanks Fudgie. We heard about the attack on the plane and there was certainly a beefed up security at the international airport where we landed. Link to comment
mhowe
We had a great trip! Did the sites in London...Westminster Abbey (the audio guide voice was Jeremy Irons!), The Tower of London, Churchills Bunker and museum and the Imperial War Museum. And Harrods. Ferry to Normandy...saw the beaches and museums. Actually met the director of the American cemetery the first night at a restaurant and helped he and his wife celebrate her birthday. Went to the cemetery and a street fair. Off to Cancale(oyster capital of the world), St Malo, Mont St Michael. Then down to the Loire valley for a few days of wine tasting and staying in a Château built in the 1600s. Lots of miles, lots of laughs...some stressful moments. But as we walked around London on our last day there holding hands and taking in the Thames....happy to be heading home and happy to be together. Back in reality and work. Thanksgiving is coming and we have much to be thankful for. Link to comment
