Saures
I had a chemical abortion 9 days ago (first pill on the Friday, second one on the Monday). I was bleeding really heavily, but the past two days, it has settled down and I know I am soon to stop bleeding, as I am not bleeding as much, can I use a tampon? I was told not to use tampons, or have sex for a week due to the risk of infection, but now it's been a week, and I can have sex, does this mean I can now start using tampons? I can't stand sanitary towels, and as it's new years, I want to wear a dress but don't want to be using sanitary towels. Link to comment
sophie274
Do you have a number for the clinic where you got the abortion? I think in your shoes, I would call and double-check. I imagine they should be able to give you some advice over the phone. Hope you're feeling ok! Link to comment
Fudgie
I would call and ask. If you've stopped bleeding or are close to it, they may tell you to go ahead. They probably tell people not to use tampons because they want your body to properly expel of the pregnancy. Link to comment
pippy longstocking
I have just done a bit of googling because I thought it was a good couple of weeks to be honest ..but i am going back years now ... anyway what I read says 2/3 weeks for sex and tampons .. I think your best bet is as everyone has said and just make a call to rest to your mind . Link to comment
Hollyj
You don't want to get an infection. Best to use pads. Link to comment
Seraphim
Yes ,you can get a really nasty infection from using tampons too soon after a miscarriage or abortion. Wait about 4 weeks. Link to comment
pippy longstocking
op if you are going to use one anyway ... hopefully your purse is big enough to carry a few and change it a lot and maybe have some feminine wipes and stay as clean as you possibly can ...and as soon as you get home , remove and get a pad on .
