Where do you find hotel deals?

A good friend is getting remarried, and it's in a local state but gas prices are through the roof and the hotel alone is spendy. I honestly don't know if I can afford to go, though I want to so much, so many of my friends will be there, including my daughter. It's over a holiday and I'm trying to talk one of my good friends into carpooling and sharing expenses, which she's interested in but still unsure if she can afford to go and honestly I'm in the same boat. Know any way to get a deal on a hotel in small town? Basically the town has 3, the one where the wedding is at would be ideal of course.

Orbitz is a good site to get hotels for cheaper than rack rate.

 

I've used it for both my hotels in my last 2 overseas trips.

link removed you can get up to like 40-50% off hotel rooms, car rentals, flights. My mom uses this when she goes on vacation and she'll pay 50 dollars a night for a hotel that normally goes for 125 a night.
