"You have a gross face"

Recommended Posts

I woke up this morning to be greeted by the sight of my many razor bumps flaring up like I've never seen before, my face covered by a festering canvas of redness, pus and dead skin. I cursed as I touched my neck, it was very sensitive, and tried to at least remove the scaling.

I decided to go out at noon, and just roam a bit and try to get to know this new city better. I arrived downtown, to the Eaton Centre, and go to the food court, as I'm sitting down, eating, a child goes up to me and says "you have a gross face", I laughed and said "I agree", she then turned around and went on her way.

It was amusing as she didn't seem to inflect her sentence with malice, which probably signifies that someone told her to do that.

After finishing, I went to the bathroom and checked on it, it was still pretty bad... it is still pretty bad.

It is only pseudofolliculitis barbae, but an especially heavy hitting version of it, it seems. Does anyone has any suggestion on how to at least decrease it before I can go to an actual dermatologist? I've tried a a lot of stuff, most of remedies at pharmacies, one cream the doctor ordered I don't even remember what it was, I've even pull the hair that gets lodged in my skin with tweezers, at one point I had pus dripping from my jawline (lol, the girl is right I do have a gross face)

That doesn't help, Hitler's Own....I've lived with this thing for 4 years and nothing has fixed it, GP's didn't help much, now that I can get a dermatologist, I'm planning on going, so far this is normalcy, today was just a tad bad.

Oh okay, I just thought that it was a random occurrence and you decided to go out and about. Why couldn't you get a dermatologist before?

Why on earth would you go out in public like that...

Um, because no one should have to lock themselves up as though they were so grotesque, they were beneath society to go out and have lunch at the food court and get some fresh air to get their mind off a painful medical condition?

I don't know how long you have to wait to see the dermatologist, but you might try going to a store that sells natural products and skin lotions, and look for one that is based on tea tree oil. That's a natural antiseptic and it feels soothing on the skin. You can find it in various nongreasy creams (which have other anti-inflammatory natural ingredients like aloe and vitamin E), or just go for straight up 100% pure tea tree oil (essential oil) which is very concentrated. This has helped me before with various minor skin infections and wounds or abrasions. It's a good natural first aid kit item too, so you can use it for other things.

As for the child's comment, the fact that it was without malice is just typical of small children who are notorious for making uncensored observations. It doesn't mean someone told her to say it. She was just being a kid, but as CAD says, a poorly taught one.

I have really bad skin and sometimes people probably think IM gross, but you know what - that's THEIR problem. YOU ARE NOT GROSS. I don't know of any remedies, but don't worry about it. No one is perfect & hopefully a dermatologist will help clear it up in the future. Just keep washing your face, but don't be ashamed of your face - there will be plenty of people who appreciate you for who you are.

a man on the show had a skin condition so severe his specialist was wanting to do plastic surgery, the show took him to another specialist who gave him a series of injections and he got fantastic results.

You sound like a sweet guy. If you're using a razor, switch to an electric. It's expensive to get a good one, but this will really help, because they don't usually cut the hair short enough to become ingrown.

The next step is to start treating your skin right. Make sure you exfoliate (gently) with a mild scrub. Even something very inexpensive like St Ives apricot scrub for sensitive skin would help. You should consider shaving every three days or so to give your neck a break.

Make sure the heads of your blades are cleaned very regularly. A lot of the issues can be solved this way.

Oh! I almost forgot. A lot of black men get this condition, and there is a product specifically marketed to them called "Bump Stop." A lot of people haven't heard of it because of the way it's marketed, by I've used it in my bikini area for the same reasons, and it works very well.

Thanks for the information, but this is why I think I have it pretty bad, because I've done most of the things. I use an electric clipper, it almost doesn't cut, so I always have a 5 o'clock shadow. I usually shave after 5 days or so, I haven't tried a scrub because it is so sensitive, but I will. I have used the Bump Stopper-2, the double strength version, it didn't do what it was supposed to.

maybe i should have included a warning about that website, extreme medical conditions.

anyone who has not seen a naked body does not want that to be their first sight.

i tried looking for the acne i saw before but there are too many cases on that show.

if you cant get good help there i dont know what to suggest.
