Please Help

I'm having to hire a man's suit for my wedding in July because I can't find anyone in my immediate area (Durham, England) who caters for butch lesbians. It's formal wear like tuxedo's, waistcoats, etc., I'm looking for.

 

Please can anyone help me?

what about just wearing a black pantsuit for a woman? then you can wear it to other functions also.

would you get something tailored especially for you, especially since its your own wedding?

It's difficult finding a suit that has a three quarter length jacket, because all the shops are making them short at present.

 

I'm only 5'6" and weigh between 16-17 stone. I look fatter in a short jacket!

 

For our engagement I wore my dark grey suit, a white shirt (which has the stick out collar), studs instead of buttons, cufflinks, a black paisley patterned bow tie and black boots. My Fiancee looked at me and never spoke. When I asked her what was wrong she said she was speechless because I looked more handsome than she'd seen me before. I want to make an extra effort for our wedding.

 

So far a man's shop has offered to help me, but they've never catered for lesbians before.

Yeah, I agree, I think it is best to get something tailored especially for you, the way you like it. find a good tailor, show them the design of what you want, and they can custom make it.

 

especially since men's hips and butt are shaped differently than ours, just going for a men's suit won't "suit" your body. for a big day, get something that will be cut nice on you.

Cristal unfortunately there isn't a tailor in the phone book of my area. But I would consider that idea if I could find one.

Is the man's shop able to make the alterations you want? i assume they would. I wouldn't think it would matter if you are lesbian or straight... as long as you're happy with the suit and they get your business!

Can you travel to London to get your suit made? or another big city?

Have you tried looking up places on the internet? Google is a very good way to find things in your area. I know it might sound dumb, but it's worth a shot.

I've visited the man's shop again and the assistant there told me they would make alterations for me. She said unfortunately they stopped making suits made to measure years ago when the seamstress retired.

Try Yell.co.uk search for Tailors in North East England. Gives 10 results, including a couple that offer a 'visiting-service', and also a place in Barnard Castle.
