Friends trying to matchmake even though I have a BF

Ok, so the other day two of my female friends in work make a dumb comment about me and a male friend - saying we should go out and would make a cute couple. This is annoying me since I have a bf of nearly 2 years, and they know I have a bf.

 

Why would they say this? We( me and bloke friend) were having an animated conversation about computers (being 2 of the 3 non-techno phobes who work there

 

Later on when it was lunch break, they didnt follow us into the canteen for break so it was just us two.

 

They haven't made any more comments since, I'm just wondering if they have my best interests at heart or are trying to stir things up. Or was it just a joke?

Probably just a joke since you two are closer than the average relationship at the office. It's completely normal to me.

It happened to me before except I was the boyfriend

 

Some of my girlfriends mates tried to set herupp with sum guy the whole night even theough she was happy and with me, I thought it wuite odd and rather offensive on there part as well they just talk to me now like nothing happened.

 

Why people do it, I dunno.

If they don't know him or haven't met him, I'm sure that they only meant it in a teasing way ..
