Morning After Pill- URGENT

Hello, My flat-mate had unprotected sex last night, and today we went to get the morning after pill, but it being a saturday the chemist is closed, and will be until monday morning. It was early saturday morning it happened, so will it be ok to take the Pill on monday morning? She's so worried about it, please help.

The pill can be taken up to 72 hours after unprotected sex. It is more effective the earlier you take it.

Is there any other place you can go to take it??

As you're in the UK, you can go to your local A & E department and get it, just ask to see a nurse, they go through a heap of paper work, then you take the pill(s) there, free.

monetlisa, the morning after pill is a mega-dose of birth control pills. (I think some people confuse it with RU486, which is the abortion pill).

Thanks everyone for your help. We went to Boots today to the pharmacy and we paid £25. She's taken the Pill, and things should all be ok now. Thanks everyone, we were so worried.

I believe the failure rate is only around 10% - depending on how early it was taken.

 

So, hopefully that will be the end of it.

my friend had the morning after pill like 3 hrs after the 3 day mark and it still worked but anyway it works better in 72 hrs then anytime after....i know this because she needed support so i went into the room with her. And i listened just incase that ever happened to me!!

I used the MAP 10 hours after unprotected sex, and I'm not pregnant. Make sure she does a pregnancy test a few weeks after taking it to be sure.

go to your local ER they can give it to you. it might cost alot more but if you could be pregnant it will help in the long run.
