ECWhite25
I don't know if other people get into music the way I do but I really pay attention to lyrics and they can really affect my mood. Anyway, I'm trying to build a playlist of music to keep me going. I'm going through a separation and I'm having a really hard time being strong and getting done what I need to get done. Anyone have any good suggestions for songs to download. I like all genres of music so I'll give anything a shot. Link to comment
kiwifly
One song that makes me feel stronger is Butterflies and Hurricanes by a group called Muse. The lyrics are quite powerful and inspiring, at least to me! Hope I've helped! Link to comment
Ms Omaniac
haha..i do the same thing when im going through a breakup. i first make a cd of only depressing songs...i guess im somewhat a masochist...but that makes me feel even worse. maybe it's to just get a good cry out or something. but then i make a cd of songs that are empowering to get over him. you sound like you need the songs to get over him. you DEFINITELY need "i will survive" by gloria gaynor. that song is amazing. those lyrics, to me, are like poetry. i also like duran duran's "ordinary world". also empowering. - ivy Link to comment
ECWhite25
lol, I already have my "depressing music" playlist that includes Easy Tonight by Five for Fighting, Mad Season, Unwell, and Bent by Matchbox 20, and tons of others. I'm working on feeling better right now though... if that is possible. Link to comment
bittersweetly healed
this is a great topic lets keep it going..."boom" by p.o.d. is a strong explosive song...and so is everything by papa roach Link to comment
ECWhite25
Not sure how many people like country music but there is an old Chris Ledoux song called "Making ends meet" He left for work and he never came back Now Mary has to face the fact That it's up to her to start a new life With two kids and just one job It's gonna' take all the strength she's got Well it's a hard row but she knows Somehow she'll survive Making ends meet Holding her own Not afraid of a hard days work To give her family a home Ain't nothing gonna break her stride There's too much love and pride Standing on her own two feet Making ends meet Link to comment

Hope75
Definitely "Long Time Ago" by Concrete Blonde. Johnette Napolitano wails in the most powerful voice and the lyrics are great "in your face" lyrics. When you turned out the light And walked out the door I said to myself What did I come here for? Did you have a good time Drinking whiskey and ryhme And did you want to be Bonnie and clyde? What goes on in your mind, What goes on in your head? Who did you think I would be Ha, well you got me instead. You think there's some connection That I'm your female reflection But no... I can be loyal And I can be true But that's for somebody else And it will never be you. You think we're predetermined But babe you're learning Way to slow... But it seems such a long time ago. he can see things You'll never know how to see. He's three times the man You'll never know how to be. I'll do anything he wants And I'll go anywhere He wants me to go. And if that isn't love Then I guess I'll just never know. But it seems a long time ago... PS- ECWhite, is that Heath Ledger on your avitar? YUM! Link to comment
simon_uk
If you like Rock Music, I have found thes albums have helped me during both of my break ups, but you must play them LOUD! The Used - Both albums but especially the first one, track 6 (I think) 'Buried Myself Alive is a MUST Listen American Hi-Fi - 'The Art of Losing' Also a song by Blue October called - 'Breakfast After Ten' Most of these songs are from a guys perspective but great listening all the same. ECWhite25
Meryn Cadell (who a lot of people have never heard of) has an awesome song that isn't really a feel good song but it is strengthening and powerful called Time of Our Lives... If your mama don't love you and your papa done gone There's a place that loves you and your sorrow Where we all catch the fall of the one newly wronged who we will not remember tomorrow. Take it all through the door Leave your coat on the floor I'm so happy in my disguise Give that vodka some lime Don't you know it's the time Of our smoky-hazed tragic young lives. I also want you all to know how much I appreciate this and I am (at least trying) to look up all these songs and listen to clips. Link to comment
ECWhite25
Oh and yes Hope that is Heath Ledger. I'm going to marry him (or just made hot passionate love to him) one day. Link to comment

ECWhite25
I tried to find Pure Hatred on link removed where I buy my music and while they had some Chimaira they didn't have that one. It would probably be edited if they did anyway. I'd like to hear it though. I forgot all about NIN Link to comment
manr
link removed.....good way to get music. walmart wont carry Chimaira. Link to comment
imagi
I think that NIN is the perfect music for every occasion, but in specific for breaking up.. they're even more perfect. You can't go to any better artist to hear hatred, pity, loathing, sorrow, and forgiveness all in one bundle. You know what you are off of with teeth gave up maybe lol sin is another good one there are dozens lol but those three seem more like power.. move on songs Link to comment
ECWhite25
thanks Manr, I got it that time. Good song! Message me again so I can add you... I kept hitting something else that would make your IM disapear before I could see what your name was to add you. Link to comment
grymoire
The most powerful and uplifting lyrics ever will be Led Zeppelin's legendary "Stairway to Heaven". Particularly the lines "...Yes there are two paths you can go by but in the long run there's still time to change the road you're on..." Trust me, it has a spiritual touch to it!! Link to comment
Meowy
Affirmation by Savage Garden It's Not Right But It's OK by Whitney Houston Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac (mostly the chorus, its just so powerful. You are forced to forget your ex and move on but if your ex wronged you they might never truly get over what they did to you). Lonely No More by Rob Thomas Link to comment
ECWhite25
I've added How you Remind Me by Nickelback, Pure Hatred by Chimaira, and both Breathe & Voices by Disturbed. This has changed more into "songs to fuel my anger" though. Apparently I'm not ready to feel strong. Link to comment
