limichelle
Hi, I'm stepping out of my comfort zone by going to a mental health peer support group this coming Monday. I have schizoid effective which is a combination between the symptoms of bipolar and schizophrenia. I mostly swing on the depressive bipolar spectrum though. I have never been comfortable with this diagnosis because of the stigma. I need to go for support and to learn more about the positives of having a mental illness. I need that understanding that's so hard to find elsewhere because if you don't have it it's hard to understand. I have social anxiety so doing this is a big challenge for me. I'm hoping as apart of my New Years resolution to make new friends and accept something I can't control and not have it be a burden. I want to live a happy life knowing yes I'm not 'normal' like the rest, but that doesn't make me less valuable. I thought I would share this since this is a huge step for me to take!
