Getting VHS tape onto my PC...has anyone here done it?

I was looking at old VHS tape recordings from high school (realizing now it's almost been 20 years...sheesh!), and found a video of a dear friend of mine who passed away a week before graduation. I've found her family online, but am waiting to ask if they'd want the video until I can actually get it digitized and in an e-mailable format - dropbox or whatever. I can manage to ghetto rig a solution to get the audio from my VCR to the computer, but can't get the video there. Has anyone here done such a thing, and how did you pull it off?

I converted a lot of old tapes but did buy the stuff to do it.

I wonder if the EasyCap will work with Windows 10? I saw a YouTube video recommending it, but not sure.

It is today easy to share a video with cloud, just create a sheared file and upload the video and give them a download link for the file.

 

Google drive is a good way.

Oh, I have no problem with sharing it, but getting it from the VHS tape to my computer is the main issue.

Remember some VHS machines have a copy protect feature build in which also make some machines not usable to copy tapes.
