  1. Rather apt. Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment. Benjamin Franklin
  2. Can't wait to get on the first plane that gets into the sky. Soon....please.
  3. “Contentment is natural wealth, luxury is artificial poverty.” Socrates
  4. Good question Wiseman. My random thought right now, well, I can't post it up here. lol.
  5. Thanks for the information Wiseman. It sounds utterly rivetting. Again, thank you Wiseman. Don't know who those two are either. Oz maybe an Australian of some kind?
  6. Corona-catastrophising, rumours and misinformation. From The Lancet "Addressing the Munich Security Conference on Feb 15, 2020, WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, “we're not just fighting an epidemic; we're fighting an infodemic.” The ease through which inaccuracies and conspiracies can be repeated and perpetuated via social media and conventional outlets puts public health at a constant disadvantage. It is the rapid dissemination of trustworthy information—transparent identification of cases, data sharing, unhampered communication, and peer-reviewed research—which is needed most during this period of uncertainty. There may be no way to prevent a COVID-19 pandemic in this globalised time, but verified information is the most effective prevention against the disease of panic."
  7. Know-it-alls (overestimating what they know).
  8. "Doc" with Stacy Keach. (watched it again)
  9. As I look at the lilac in bloom outside and the fragrance brings me back to teens "Lilac Wine" Jeff Buckley
  10. Very relevant IMO Healing the Shame That Binds You by John Bradshaw "Shame is the motivator behind our toxic behaviors: the compulsion, co-dependency, addiction and drive to superachieve that breaks down the family and destroys personal lives". Toxic Shame: Is It Defining Your Life? by Oliver JR Cooper. "Do you have low self-esteem? • When you are in a relationship, do you feel as though you are not enough? • Do you put up with bad behaviour? • Are you obsessed with self development? • Do you believe that you are unlovable? • Are you always self conscious?"
  11. People who copy me. It's said imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but don't need it.
  12. Will you walk into my parlour?” said the Spider to the Fly, ‘Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy; The way into my parlour is up a winding stair, And I’ve a many curious things to show when you are there.” “Oh no, no,” said the little Fly, “to ask me is in vain, For who goes up your winding stair can ne’er come down again.” “Sweet creature!” said the Spider, “you’re witty and you’re wise, How handsome are your gauzy wings, how brilliant are your eyes! I’ve a little looking-glass upon my parlour shelf, If you’ll step in one moment, dear, you shall behold yourself.” “I thank you, gentle sir,” she said, “for what you’re pleased to say, And bidding you good morning now, I’ll call another day.” Alas, alas! how very soon this silly little Fly, Hearing his wily, flattering words, came slowly flitting by; With buzzing wings she hung aloft, then near and nearer drew, Thinking only of her brilliant eyes, and green and purple hue — Thinking only of her crested head — poor foolish thing! At last, Up jumped the cunning Spider, and fiercely held her fast. He dragged her up his winding stair, into his dismal den, Within his little parlour — but she ne’er came out again! And now dear little children, who may this story read, To idle, silly flattering words, I pray you ne’er give heed: Unto an evil counsellor, close heart and ear and eye, And take a lesson from this tale, of the Spider and the Fly. Sound dismally familiar? Yes? The fly ignored those bright red flags. Flattery is the weapon of the predator.
  13. The chlorinated chickens are the most violent.
  14. Dias. Just looked up and I see there is a film. I knew there was a song. Castles in the air. Such a lovely image but just a mirage.
  15. Castelli in aria. Hopeless illusion. Yet so many trapped by the illusion, thinking something solid can be built on thin air.
  16. Airplay? lol. The less visible we are the less likely to be misconstrued. Or give - perceivedly - bad advice.
  17. Camber. Our resident "Septimus" is largish for a house spider. So his size. He trawls around seeking a mate. Never see him in daytime. Lol. A visitor here nearly lost her wits when on moving the curtain he fell to the ground and scuttled to his favourite hiding place. I had to pretend I had put him out. Kim. It is hard to explain. Maybe an evolutionary cause. The pesky little terrors have been around 380 years. Yes!
  18. I take it this is not a huge hefty tarantula but a native brown house spider (small)? Yes? Nothing to fear Kim. If you must, put him outside (though he or his nearest relative will find a way back in). L
  19. How about this Kim. "The spider in animal totem language represents a symbol of mystery, mystic power, and spiritual growth." As the spiders weave their webs, we weave our lives. He pays rent in kind, by killing insects in the home.
  20. ROFL Wise. Are you lookin' at me? You know full well who I am lookin' at.
  21. Hey Camber! Put more simply these Sea-lions are wind up merchants. And then there are those in the none so deaf as those who do not wish to hear" category. Also, Sea-lions.
