Need some ideas please

Recommended Posts

Out side of working and other necessities, what do you all do in your free time? I am at the point where I realize that I really don't know how to define myself outside of my work. My focus has been career orientated for years. I realize now the importance of finding my true passions, self beliefs, etc. The things that define who we are most importantly to ourselves.

Am in need for some difference and creativity. At this point, would just like to get away from my working life, and have some fun. Outside of posting on this site and others, what do y'all do for fun? All is appreciated. Hobbies, passions, etc. Thanx.

i'm not old enough to drive a car with a group of friends and go see a rock concert, but that would be the first thing on my mind when i could.

a great hobby would be to start playing guitar. it can be a stress reliever when everything else sux and there's nothing you can do about it. it's also fun hearing yourself doing something cool for once.

other than that, myspace can get addictive when some people you know are on it.

The things that will fulfill you will be based specifically on your particular tastes ... what you enjoy ... what really makes you tick basically.

One of the most simple, satisfying ways that I pass my time is to draw, write or fish. Honestly! Both of these activities have such healing, peaceful qualities that I really couldn't live happily without them. There is something about the way a piece of charcoal moves along a piece of paper, seeing the end-result that is so soulful and satisfying ... I really can't describe it any other way. I get into a zone where that one thing is THE most important thing in the world ... the ONLY thing in the world actually.

The hard part is finding what really makes you happy. What works for me may not work for you. If you're looking for something creative, then that's definitely the most subjective element possible.

Are there any particular things from your childhood you remember being involved with? You'd be surprised at how easy it is to pick things like that up again ... we change, but not as much as you may think!

Little trips away with mates, just to the coast for a couple of days staying in a dirtcheap hostel..that was/is rather good.

Making movies with a close friend of me..we are "shooting" one on anorexia/soft porn tomorrow (yeah..nowhere did I say I was conventional)

Educating myself..I can read up on anything from the water cycle to Italian politics..its never a waste of time just to absorb articles, whether from online, books, etc.

Walking a lot. Urban ranging, in other words. I take black and white photos when Im out.

Hair braiding..heh maybe not for everyone, kills a couple of hours though like it did yesterday with a friend of mine

Hmmm.... why don't you start by reading books or watch movies? Although the danger is you could get lost to them and waste a lot of time. For me, I read a lot of manga comics (Japanese comics). Might be considered childish, but some stories are really insightful eg realization of dreams and following that dream. Examples: Naruto (dream to become the best Ninja); One Piec (dream to become the best pirate); Yakitate Japan (dream to create the staple bread for Japan), etc.

Or do something different like travelling and you'll find a different perspective. If you actively seek for it, the thing that you're looking for will also seek for you.
