Am I reading too much into this?

Long story short there is this girl I've liked for ages who happens to be a good friend of my sisters. We get on great, have the same sense of humor and chat whenever she's round at my house. So today I didn't know what to do, had no plans or whatever when my mum suggested texting said girl and asking her to go for lunch which I found really strange, considering she's my sisters friend. I haven't told my mum or sister that I like her either, although I did tell a friend but I don't think he would have said anything. Do you think I'm reading too much into this or does it seem a little odd? How would I even know if she liked me? Any advice would be great, thanks!

Maybe your mom has just noticed you and this girl seem to get along well when she's around and thought you could have a fun afternoon together.

I didn't but I went into town anyway and ended up seeing her down there and walked her along to get a couple of things and chatted. After that we sat and talked for a bit before meeting my sister and walking home. Also thanks for the advice.
