New Date - Should I Text Her "Happy Birthday?"

Hello all,

 

Long time reader, first time poster.

 

I met a girl from an online dating site Wednesday night at a bar. She was with a group of her friends, and I brought a couple of my friends. We all had a good time but there was little time for us to get to know each other. When I text messaged her the next day, she did agree to go out one-on-one date with me next week.

 

Anyway, at the bar, she mentioned her birthday was this weekend. Since we have only had a few texts since the date and she is out of town this weekend celebrating, would it be too much to text her "Happy Birthday?" A part of me feels like it's a thoughtful gesture, but another part of me feels like it's strange to be text messaging a girl I don't know too well while she is out of town, celebrating with her friends.

 

What do you guys and girls think?

It would be better to call and wish her a Happy Birthday. But if you feel uncomfortable, by all means text her. You are going out with her again, after all. I guess I am just old fashioned.
