1MoreChance
I really like eggs, and I was wondering if it's too much to have them that often. I prepare them hard boiled, but still, are the eggs themselves bad for choleterol levels? Link to comment
ghost69
the yolks can be. the whites, not really. Link to comment
Scorpion Fury
the cholesterol is in the yolk. Link to comment
sosilver
the yolks can be. the whites, not really. Ditto. Take out the yellows. Link to comment
Jetta
Yes that's too many eggs. I think you're supposed to have them no more than twice a week. But that could be some kind of diet I'm remembering (like a doctor prescribed one for my dad when he was alive). Link to comment
Crazyaboutdogs
I have heard of recent studies that say that eggs are not as bad as they once thought. If you don't have a cholesterol problem then I wouldn't worry...just also make sure you eat things that tend to lower the cholesterol..and perhaps instead of buying the large eggs, buy medium eggs or reduce it to 2-3 times/week rather than 3-4 times. We all have foods we like that are not great for us..as long as we balance it out with foods that are good for us. Link to comment
ghost69
cardiovascular activities also helps lower cholesterol and you can enjoy those yolks. Link to comment
Puckdog27
I eat 2 of them almost every day, but i dont eat alot of other cholestorals. Heres some info link removed Link to comment
top bloke
I eat 35 eggs a week. The yellow is all cholesterol .The white has no fat at all.It is full of protein. The high consumption of the yellow may elevate blood cholesterol. I generally eat the whites as it is the best natural source of bio available protein. If you like your eggs whole then id recommend you have a piece of toast with margarine which contains plant sterols which will help block the cholesterol uptake of the eggs . Eat the toast first though so it goes through a little earlier down your system Link to comment
COtuner
cholesterol is one of the building blocks for sex and other hormones. My endocrinologist has me eating 3 eggs per week to help me avoid needing birth control pills or HRT, but only one egg each of those days. I have 0 cholesterol issues. Link to comment
COtuner
Ditto. Take out the yellows. Nope, misinformation. Yolks have good stuff in them too - if you eat a healthy diet and diet there is no problem for most people. Always some genetic risk present for arterial plaque, but that would have nothing to do with eggs anyway. Link to comment
shikashika
Actually the yolk is where most of the nutrients are! Link to comment
sosilver
Egg yolks do have nutrients but are also high in fat therefore, the danger of cholesterol issues. Moderation is key. Link to comment
lost1607307474
Eggs do contain a lot of cholesterol and personally I would see that as too many eggs in a week. I would only have eggs maybe once a week. Link to comment
top bloke
I am not allowed to eat the egg yellows for the negtive cardiovascular health risks as per my heart surgeon. Link to comment
hear_her_roar
I don't THINK so, as long as you keep tabs on your other sources of cholesterol. Eggs are wonderful for you, and are an awesome source of protein... when I was vegetarian I relied heavily on them to keep me satiated, and my health was just fine! Link to comment
Creative
My mother ate out for breakfast 1 entire year with 2 eggs / day. Her blood pressure increased to 140-145ish, it was normal prior to getting into the habit of eating out for breakfast. I don't know the detail of it all, but I can tell you that 2 eggs, 7 days per week harms you. However, I don't know if 3-4/week has negative effects. Couldn't give you that info. Link to comment
