speak
Today, I went and had my hair done at a salon. The price was 45.00 but I forgot to tip!!! Is it that important to tip or not? I really liked this stylist and want to go back next time. Do you think he might deny me an appointment due to me not tipping?? Link to comment
lady00
I think you're fine. I have forgotten to tip before, gone back and gotten great service. I just tried not to ever forget again--and I didn't. I think one time is fine. As long as you don't get a rep for not tipping...one slip-up is OK. When I forgot, the next time, I tipped her extra. Link to comment
Snoopy24
He won't deny you a haircut, but if he remembers he may not do your hair to the best of his ability.. If I were you next time you come in, say "i'm really sorry last time i was in a rush and totally forgot to leave you a tip, and give him a 10. Link to comment
musicguy
you're gonna be fine. I go to a salon, but I never tip the ladies who cut my hair. I do tip my tattoo artist though Link to comment

Hair stylists don't get paid much, and pretty much rely on tips. I wouldn't want to cut your hair haha. Link to comment

Is there anyway you could go back today or tomorrow and leave the tip for them? I bet they sure would appreciate it. I'm sure you'll get good service next time, but they always remember a good tipper. Link to comment

Batya33
Yes, if you can go back there, do, or the next time give her an extra $10. I always tip my hair stylist - 20% - but I don't always tip the person who washes my hair - it depends on the level of service. Link to comment
speak
Well, I've never really tipped before and I guess it just isnt beaten in me yet...my last stylist never accepted when I tried to give the money. We were talking and I mentioned my age and that I am 19 and all so maybe he will let it slide since I am young and may have just forgotten?? This was the first high priced salon I had ever been to. Batya33
Typically you don't tip the owner of the salon -was this the owner? If you expected your boss to give you a $10 bonus at the pay period because he promised you and he forgot, would you let it slide? Link to comment
speak
Yes. He was the owner along with another lady. They Co-Owned. Link to comment

You meant that where you used to go the owner cut your hair, but at this new place the stylist was not the owner, correct? Link to comment
speak
No. The last place, the lady was not the owner and every time I tried to tip her she would NOT accept. The guy that did my hair today WAS the owner and I forgot to tip!! Link to comment
BeStrongBeHappy
Yes, I always tip 20%... i mean really, i want the stylist to be in a good mood the next time she takes scissors to my head! Link to comment
lady00
OK, so this current guy is the owner, then no, don't tip. Link to comment
bubbledot
I did that once. I just went right back and gave her the tip, and said that I forgot. It was embarrassing, but it's better than doing nothing. Link to comment
