I am 32 and a few years back (about 3) I became disabled from a catastrophic illness. It almost killed me, but it didn't. For many years I haven't dated because I didn't feel up to it and I felt weak. But now I am healthier; and I still can't get up the nerve to get out there and have a girlfriend.
My problem is a complex one. I am training online for the work I desire, but I am not working yet and at the same time I am in school, but I am not physically at a school because I go to school Online through the Internet.
It is very hard to meet people because I am not in a workplace nor meeting people on a school campus. I feel like a bum though I know I am not.
For example, if I met a girl I wanted to date, what would I tell her about myself that wouldn't turn her off?
-My major illness?
-My jobless state?
-My non-social life?
-Taking distance education classes in a town with three major schools?
Sure the distance education saves me a little money, but it leaves me with less to relate to any of the nice college girls in town. Three schools and I'm going to one 300 miles away. The money was an issue though and I'm glad to have the education.
So, how should I approach the common questions of the dating world?
Where do you work?
Where do you go to school?
Do you have any friends "in town"?
