What does it mean by "chances"

I would like to know if a shy guy tells the girl I like you. You are beautiful, we have lots of common interests..etc....and later asked a girl "Can you give me chances?" at the end of the date. Then later he hugs her. Does the quote above means "Can you be my gf?"

Maybe he's asking that if he screws up, he's able to get another chance to do it right?

I don't know, that's an odd one. I would surmise that it's an akward way of asking if he can see you again? Hmm...
