Afraid I might be pregnant!!

Recommended Posts

Okay,I just ran out of birth control pills but my b/f and I just had sex the other day.And we didn't use a condom or anything. So I was just wondering what are the chances of me getting pregnant if we use the "pull out method."I know very well that I still could.I was just wondering if there was some hope that I might not be.So are there any women on here that know.Or have gotten pregnant while using the "pull out method."I really need some comfort here.

The pull out method is hardly a protection for pregnancy, however the chance is of course smaller than sex WITH ejaculation.

I know you are going out of your mind now. Take a breath and answer this:

* what do you mean by the other day? You can take a morning after pill up til 72 hours after the last unprotected intercourse! If so, you should call your family doctor and have him prescribe a morning after pill NOW. It is probably a holiday for you too now, or not? Go to a 24 hour farmacy to get it.

* why didn't you have birthcontrol pills? Are you at the end of a cycle where you would have your period? Are you on the mini pill or a combinationpill? (do you have to stop taking them every month for a week to get your period or not?)

* in which week are you in terms of your cyclus?

Take care,

It was yesterday. And I just ran out of pills. And I literally don't have the money to get more.I already called my gyno and she said it would cost anywhere from $200 to $250.I just don't have that kind of money right now.I couldn't even get the morning after pill b/c I'm not going to have any money until I get my check on Tuesday.

Don't you have health insurance (sorry, the system in Holland seems to be very different!)? Ask your boyfriend. A set of morning after pills (in my case it was always take 2 pills 2 times in one day) cannot possibly cost as much as a complete package of pills.

I really wonder why the gyno didn't prescribe a morning after pill. Meanwhile she could fax it to the farmacy and you have this day still to find a way to have the money. Ask her how much a morning after pill costs.

Please take care of this today, I think it's better to ask people to lend you the money for the pills NOW than to have to take care of a baby/pregnancy and all the costs that come with that.

Take care,

Ask your friends, a familymember you are comfortable enough with? Ok, first ask for the costs of morning after. Then you could even make up another reason for having to borrow money (like for food or whatever?). I am sorry for your situation, I hope you learn from it for a next time: just don't have sex when you know there is a risk.

So are you out of pills at the end of the pill pack and in the "break" week anyway? If so, don't worry about it, but DO DO DO from now on use condoms. For the pill to be effective you can't just stop and start using it as you have money, so find a new birth control method, or find a "teen clinic" which often offers low cost birth control.

The pull out method is definitely NOT effective especially when not used properly (ie timed to cycle commonly called rythm method which requires you to chart your body/secretions to determine fertility), and many do get pregnant that way. So if you were not in the break after your pills and finished them mid cycle or something then the chances are high of pregnancy, if this IS your "break week" I would not be as worried, but don't take these sorts of chances!

Ok first off you can call your local health department and make an appointment to get birth control for free, and if you are really worried about being pregnant they will, again for free, give you the morning after pill- only works up to 72 hours after the sex has taken place. They will also give you condoms, for free.

There are a lot of resources that our government gives the people without health insurance, you just have to look for it.

Yes, for regular appointments their scheduling is usually far away because there is a lot of people that go through there- but your case is time sensitive and you need to tell them that you need the morning after pill and birth control

Yeah,I told them that but they said there was nothing they could do.Because they were all filled up for May.So I guess I have to just hope and pray that I'm not pregnant. My period should be coming around the 25th.So if I miss it,I'm going to be freaking out!!I'm just afraid of the whole thing.Especially when it's time for me to have the baby.Ya know, all the pain?I would just hope that there wouldn't be any complications. And right now would not be a good time for me to be raising a child. But what can ya do?I made the mistake of having unprotected sex.

Hey girl,

You sound like you are normally really careful with these things. The risk you're pregnant is really small. Why don't you see your family doctor? Just to see what he/she recommends for the future of birth control?

Maybe it's worth to consider the possibilities of a link removed; it might outweigh the costs of the pill and it's even safer (in my experience/opinion). Of course this site is pretty biased so check out link removed and link removed for other reports. Just a thought. I have one and I am really very happy with it, certainly compared to the struggles that came with the pill, like forgetting and going insane about pregnancy, the boost of hormones swimming in my bloodstream which really made me and and at the same time, etc.

Well, thumbs up for you girl! Keep us posted and try to relax...

Well, in the Old Days (when Holland wasn't that much in an economic crisis and I was 22 years old), it was covered by insurance.

*sigh*

In fact, I am not sure about it now. I know that women have to pay for the pill themselves now. They simply cut out the medicins that are used the most- because who would want to insure people who actually NEED insurance!

Yes, it hurts a lot if you haven't given birth before. But that's just one day. If you consider it, just make an appointment at your obgyn. She can tell you if she thinks your a good candidate

Just some tips: take the day off if you get it, and do take care that there is someone to take you home afterwards. I just was too stubborn to take advices and went to the hospital on the bike- alone.

My details will just scare you- it's not the same for every one but yes it can be very very painful. Remember that it's just one day and you'll sleep and be protected for 5 years.

Just go to the obgyn to see if this would be a better/cheaper way to protect yourself.

Take care!

I just checked; apparently I have been a smartie when getting my health ensurance, and got an extra package (I don't know, it might be really different in the states!), and I don't have to pay for it.

In Holland, a mirena costs about 130 euros, I guess that's around 167 USD, which would be 33,4 USD per year, excl. the possible control appointments at the obgyn. In fact, I only had to get it checked once, 1 month after they put it in.

Hey,

Hang in there girl! It happened only once, and you do seem like a really careful and responsible person, don't beat yourself up about this. The chance is still really small.

Did you contact a specialist/doctor ?

So if I do get my period, should I still take a pregnancy test?I've just heard that you can have your period but still be pregnant.

It is possible to have bleeding (those women who do get periods in pregnancy only usually get them first trimester or so), but it is generally different than your period in many respects. Generally it is more of a spotting then an actual period itself, and usually pinkish or brown-pink, sometimes due to implantation or confused hormones. Most women can tell if it is different than usual and will have other symptoms.

If you have a heavy period its a period...otherwise an egg would be flushed out when the uterus was shedding so you would unlikely be having a viable pregnancy. You can also get bleeding/periods with fallopian tube pregnancies, but these are not even usually detected by a pregancy test as hormones are screwed up and are only found out when women goes to doctor due to pain (these pregnancies must be aborted by doctors). Other times "periods" may also be a sign of a miscarriage, though if period is your regular and you are not even positive for pregnancy yet this is unlikely.

If your period is normal and regular as usual, then I would not worry about it unless you want to do so for your own peace of mind

I was pregnant recently, and I had my period the first month- so I had no idea I was pregnant, but it was different, and I did have cramps. But then the second month came, found out I was pregnant, no period- no cramps but then had a miscarriage. I went to the doctor that they told me I didn't have enough pregestrine? I don't know how to spell it in my body ....So I guess anything is possible... just take the test whether you have it or not.
