Can an engagement make someone stop cheating?

She can’t be that hurt if he cheated on her 2 weeks before the trip, then she said yes to a marriage proposal. Honestly I can’t imagine what I would say to my friend who came back from a trip saying “well, he cheated again, but now we’re engaged.” I wonder how it all happened... maybe he bought a ring but wanted to have one last fling? (Hey that rhymes!)

But yes, he will cheat again.

Was she hurt at all??

The chance of him remaining faithful is the square root of diddly squat.

And not because "once a cheater, always a cheater" (which is true).

But because he's proposed to her two weeks after his latest fling. Almost as a reaction like it will help make him become faithful. Like an alcoholic pouring his liqueur down the sink hoping he'll stop drinking..

He's shown her who he is. She should believe him. Getting engaged is NOT going to change him. Getting married is NOT going to change him. There's no magic wand in engagement and marriage that suddenly changes that kind of disloyalty. If she marries him, she's setting herself up for a lifetime of disappointment and betrayal.
