Art, healing, and anger

Recommended Posts

My partner left me a month ago, after eight years. She didn't have great reasons for leaving. Just said she hates herself and I deserve better. She also struggled with depression throughout and stopped taking her medication some months ago.

So I sit around going up and down emotionally. I am an artist and found myself diving deep into my work which is surprising... because I haven't dived deep into in some time. I wanted to write something smart and persuasive about the creative practice and it's ability to heal. However I am unable to. I want to strongly recommend that people give it a chance. If you've never painted, try it. If you've never written a poem, write several. Do this for several days and you may find it very therapeutic.

So I want to take a moment to speak of my emotion, visually

Art of all types can be incredibly therapeutic. Good for you for trying something new!

I recently learned to knit, and now I can't stop, lol. I'm absolutely mesmerized by it, and I've even joined a knitting group and made new friends. It's an art form, in that you're creating something, and it requires patience and a meticulous attention to detail.

I never did anything really creative like this before, as I never had any talent for anything, but I finally understand people who use art as therapy.
