Met up for 7 hours

So I was just supposed to be meeting a colleague for lunch and to plan some future work together however we ended up being out for 7 hours. We hardly even discussed work but focused on our lives and at one point our personal life: he then told me it was the first time he had opened up to someone in years. I really like him but I genuinely have no idea how he feels. We had some teasing going on but the conversation just flowed throughout. We don't know each other really well but I felt like I had known him for years. He thanked me at the end for a great day, gave a hug and that was it. Just not sure if it is a friend thing or if feelings could be mutual. We communicate through email and that tells me he isn't interested romantically; surely he would text?

I think its best to be open about it and ask him about his feeling about this? Better than hanging around hoping he will do something
