trying to conceive but it's impossible

Hello Ladies and gents, I've been having this problem since last month. My fiance and I have been trying to conceive. Last month, I missed my period completely, usually I get my periods in the very first week of the month or the last two weeks of the month. I of course waited until the last 3 days of the month to see if my period would come and nothing, so I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. Later my boyfriend and I had sex on both nights trying to conceive again. A day later (The first day of August) I get my period. I am confused about this, is it last months late period? is it this months? should I wait until I miss another period to get pregnancy tested? or is it even possible that I could be pregnant?
