He didn't have to be your rock, but he could have talked to you, said hello. Anything really, and the way you've described what happened, he didn't.

I wouldn't talk to him again. He obviously has his own life he cares about.

Exactly! I wasn't expecting some declaration of love - just for him to check in on me, to show some concern. That never really happened.
