yellowcal
Can having low iron also cause low blood platelets? When pregnant? Just wondering if the two somehow can be connected. Link to comment
alli
I don't think so. Low iron would mean you have a low number of red blood cells. You can have low iron if you are small and therefore have low bone mass (ie, shorter than 5' 5" & less than 150lbs) or do not eat much of the food that promotes iron levels. I don't know much about platelets or how either would be connected to pregnancy. You must have seen your Dr to find out you have this problem.. why don't you ask them? Link to comment
Seraphim
It seems there is "some" correlation in some people. Link to comment
yellowcal
I'm already anemic, Knew that before the pregnancy but my doctor was mentioning something about there being some relations between me already being anemic and also having low blood platelets at my visit today. I wasn't feeling well so didn't really catch all of what he said I go back in 1 week for a follow up and to see if the new iron pills they put me on are helping any so I planned on asking more. But just didnt know if anyone had any experience with experiencing both during pregnancy and if they were related in some sense. Link to comment
