woman's anatomy - medical terminology question

Recommended Posts

Dimples of Venus.. (and im not making that up..LOL)

Lol, that's not the medical term for anything! Those dimples are just the area where the spinal erector muscles attach to a woman's pelvis, there is no real anatomical term for them. Men can have them too if they have large enough spinal erectors.

Boo, hiss, why can't I get an attraction to something original.

Good ol' wikipeida - I googled "dimples of venus" and got:

fossae lumbales laterales

That sort of sounds like lateral lumbar pits in my language. But somehow I don't think "Her fossae lumbales laterales are so hot" really works lol

It is the point at which the PSIS (Posterior Superior Iliac Spine, i.e., the top of the hip bone) and the sacrum meet.

The juncture of those two bones is called the sacral sulcus -- that's what shows up as the indentation you are talking about.

It's more prominent in some people than others, due to bone structure as well as surrounding muscle mass and fat.

And it's not just women that have it. Men do, too.
