  1. Thank you. I'll stay in for as long as I need to and won't chance getting anyone else sick. I live alone with my cat so I don't have to worry about infecting family members or house mates.
  2. Hi guys! So after yelling at me for coming in when I didn't need to (according to her) the doctor examined me. No fever, no chest congestion or lung fluid, no swollen lymph nodes and no sign of infection in my throat or tonsils. She diagnosed me with a run of the mill upper respiratory virus and prescribed rest, fluids and over the counter cold meds. You have no idea how relieved I am! I had told her even a strep throat diagnosis would be a relief but I didn't even have that. Thanks for your well wishes. I will continue to self-quarantine, only going out when absolutely necessary and I will not go into work Monday if I'm still feeling unwell because there's no need to spread even a common virus around.
  3. Thank you. Currently at the urgent care. Surprisingly quiet as everyone is at the ER. Hope you are well, Blue.
  4. I've made the decision to go to urgent care. My throat hurts worse and I am starting to have to make a little more effort to breathe. They pre-screened me over the phone and said I only have one of the criteria (breathing) but they said I could come in to see if they think I need to be sent to the hospital to be tested. I'm worried because I was in California 12 days ago and the cases there have blown up.
  5. Thank you. It will be a financial hit but I do have funds in savings. And I'm saving on gas! I'm supposed to move to California in two weeks for a work promotion. That too is in limbo.
  6. Thank you. My boss seems a bit annoyed but my team is being very supportive. They care, plus I'm sure they don't want a cold.
  7. I decided to stay out of work again today. My nose is still running and I have some chest pressure, but that seems to be due to my acid reflux since I can breathe fine and I have no fever or cough. I cannot expose my coworkers to cold symptoms. I feel irresponsible instead of responsible since I seldom miss work and we are super busy. But I cannot frighten my team or possibly give them a cold.
  8. I just find it frustrating when I read about elderly people who are told they can't get tested because their fever isn't high enough. They are sick but not sick enough apparently. However, an NFL coach who chose to attend a public event last weekend and thought he might be coming down with a cold was able to get tested. He wasn't experiencing severe symptoms, yet was able to be tested immediately. It's concerning because those (like me) who just have a runny nose, some chest discomfort and a scratchy throat and headache can't get tested. I have no fever and I can breathe just fine, but who's to say I don't have a mild case? Or that thousands of others could have mild cases but can't get tested? I can stay home from work and have no paycheck (I missed a day and a half this week already trying to be responsible, but my boss would really like to see me come back because he's had to run things in my absence...) or I could go in and possibly be around people who are carriers since there are over a hundred of us in the building at any given time. I'm not a worrier usually but I would hate for me or anyone else to unknowingly be getting others sick.
  9. So how do you all feel about NFL coaches, politicians, movie stars and pro athletes being able to get tested just because they feel like they're coming down with a cold or were in an area where people have the virus, but us regular folk are being told we can't get tested unless we have a fever of at least 101 degrees and are having trouble breathing?
  10. If I could find some wipes to buy I would. Fortunately, my company has been supplying us with wipes, disinfecting spray and hand sanitizer. I forgot to check the seat before I sat down so that part is on me. The women I work with frequently pee on the seat because they hover and don't clean up the messes they make, so I should have checked.
  11. Thanks, you too. I'll be returning to work tomorrow. My company is implementing stringent social distancing protocols but there is really no way for us to be completely apart from one another. We're in a closed up building and breathing the same air. We share equipment and restrooms. The other day I placed a seat liner and then sat on the toilet seat and someone had peed all over the seat, probably because they were "hovering", therefore causing the very thing they were trying to avoid. It was disgusting. But, to work I have to go!
  12. Yep, and as I mentioned above, our governor wants to reopen and encourage tourists to come here. I guess she wants our city to lead the way with the most deaths. Unbelievable stupidity.
  13. Wow, I feel lucky that my delivery estimate is next week. However, that could change. I have enough to last until the end of this month so even if it doesn't get here until the 30th I'll be fine. I'm low on Kleenex though. With my runny nose that is a problem! I've been digging around in all my pockets looking for Kleenexes. I get emails from Big Lots and they say they are constantly restocking. If there are Big Lots or Family Dollar stores where you are maybe check there. Also Lowe's and Home Depot.
  14. His priority has been pumping up the stock market. His buddies are all complaining to him about their profit margins. Well, dead people can't buy their products but they don't think about that. Plus, since mainly old people are dying and they will die soon anyway, it's just not that important to them. If the virus affected those in their 20s, 30s and 40s we'd hear a different story.
  15. Charmin Ultra Strong. I may have gotten one of the last available. I clicked on other brands that showed as available and 30 seconds later they were no longer available. That's how quickly they are selling out.
  16. Our mayor is advocating for only a week or two shut down, while the governor asked for 30 days. Mayor says the economic impact is too great and we rely on tourism for our economy. Well, ding dong, no one is going to travel here anyway due to the virus (and those who would choose to would be making an extremely BAD decision), so we should have all the tourist businesses open for people who won't come? Drives me crazy. No, I didn't vote for that woman. She got the job because her husband used to be the mayor. Since when does being married to a mayor make YOU qualified to be one??? I was married to a logistics specialist, does that make me an expert in logistics???
  17. So I just went online (Amazon) and was able to buy toilet paper! Yay! $25 for 18 rolls. At first I thought that was price gouging since I usually only buy 4 or 6 rolls at a time, but it broke down to only $1.39 per roll which is totally reasonable. I hurried up and clicked "Place Order" as quickly as I could! I'll have it mid next week. And here I am celebrating a toilet paper purchase like I just bought a fancy new car. Still have the runny nose but I usually have a runny nose. I stayed out of work today because the team I supervise was understandably fearful when I was there blowing my nose and talking in a scratchy voice. It made me feel bad to see their eyes widen and them leaning away from me when I came within 3 feet. And they like me but liking has nothing to do with staying healthy. Hope everyone is hanging in there.
  18. Tourists are complaining in my city. They interviewed one yahoo from Oklahoma who just got here a couple of days ago and complained about his vacation being ruined. Um, idiot, the virus was a thing already before you decided to come here. Your fault for choosing to ignore it. Still have a cold. I tend to have colds linger due to my compromised immune system. But so far I haven't gotten worse. Off work today and probably going to skip work tomorrow. Stay safe, everyone.
  19. I don't have to go in. I won't be paid but I can stay home and not get into trouble. I keep trying to work because I'm a supervisor and I keep waking up feeling better but by the end of my 10 hour day I feel kind of lousy.
  20. My company has identified itself as an "essential business" so we all have to continue to go to work. I understand their reasoning, but I haven't recovered yet from whatever it is I have...I need to rest!
  21. I left work early yesterday due to my cold getting worse. I am currently sitting on my couch trying to decide if I should go in today. The financial hit will impact me if I don't go in but not too bad. And being a responsible coworker is more important, of course.
  22. Here they are broadcasting all these casino promotions. Restaurants are emailing $20 coupons and posting special prices. Shops are posting specials and sales and asking people to come shop. Yet the government is telling us to stay home. I get they are probably feeling terrible financial stress, but I don't think they should be encouraging and/or asking us to patronize their businesses right now. They should probably just close down until this crisis is more under control. And hopefully their landlords will give them some kind of break.
  23. Do you have any behavioral tools you can use to manage the panicking? I have anxiety but I tell myself that panicking and anxiety have never solved any problems and will not cure anything. Anxiety exists to help us identify threats (as I'm sure you know) but it can't fix the problem we're anxious about. I love to garden so that helps. I also clean because I am so particular about cleaning so it takes all my focus. I hope you are able to feel better soon.
  24. Did one of your kids get diagnosed with the virus? Or one of their parents or grandparents?
