asking guys (as 'friends') over to house: good idea?

I had this idea that is still formulating in my mind. What do you think?

 

My idea is to ask a bunch of my friends, like 5, and four or five guys, over to my house to swim (i have a huge pool). I wouldn't be so weird about this if these guys were actually like friends of mine, but the truth is that I don't know 'em too well. but I WANT to get to know them, and i'm having a hard time accomplishing that just at school. So the question is, would it be alright to ask some random guys who i don't know that well over to my house for a casual thing? and how could i pose the q, keeping in mind that they aren't close to me or any of my friends?

well, I might invite not just guys, that might get a little awkward. because if your the only girl there they might be really awkward. of course they might just start getting ideas LoL. My advice is swimming is a good idea but invite a few girls over also maybe just 1 or 2 is all. but if all guys is what you want, sounds good to me LoL have fun.

lol, i said five of my friends (girls) and the boys, but i want it to be a really casual thing, like a sort of impromptu party, ya know?
