MissyM
I've been starving myself recently. I'm not sure if this is a case of self harm fuelled by self hatred or whether I'm in need of some control. My life is not going the way I planned and I'm deeply unhappy. Link to comment
Jetta
How long have you been fasting/starving? Do you have a plan for how long you plan to starve/fast or is it indefinitely? It's not harmful if done for a short period of time. It can be healthy and beneficial. Are you concerned about doing this or returning to eating? Start with fruits when you return from a fast it's easier on your body. I'm really not sure what you're looking for by posting but there are safe ways to return to eating, if that's a concern. 1 Link to comment

Have you sought out a counselor to speak with about your problem(s)? 1 Link to comment
MissyM
No, I live in North England, it's a different culture over here with regard to counselling. I wouldn't even know where to start. I've not eaten properley for just over a week. I've had the odd thing here and there but I've usually got a massive appetite, I have 3 good meals a day. It's like I just can't bring myself to eat, like a punishment. Link to comment
Jetta
Do you know what triggered the not eating? What incident started you on this self destructive behavior? Link to comment
krayzeejen
Re. getting counselling - see your doc he will refer you to the relevant team/person. It's depends on your local NHS trust and your GP's surgery who you are referred to. And whether you're seen in the surgery or at a mental heath unit. And of course what you are happy with. There is also a possibility of having someone come to you at home in various parts of the country. Good luck! Link to comment

ImThatGirl
MissyM - - -- - - - Sometimes starving ourself is due to our need for being able to control "something" in our lives. I know when I'm really upset or not feeling like I have absolutely no control, it hits me. I think to myself. "I can control this. I'll stop eating. I Can make myself lose weight if nothing else!" I'm proud of you for posting about it. Now we just need to find a way to help you get through this. Remember: Your body needs nutrition. Without nutrition you are at risk for becoming severely ill or worse, dead. I know that's harsh but it's the truth. If I remember ur picture, you are pretty thin. Can your body handle loss of weight? Are you taking multi-vitamins? Can we help you gain control a bit where you are feeling completely out of control? Hugs~ Please reach out more..... Link to comment
