restraining order question

I filed for a restraining order from an exboyfriend who has been threatening me and threatening to send naked pictures of me all over. It was just approved today and is being sent to be served to him. He is harassing me really really bad tonight, and im just wondering how long until the restraining order is in affect? Will it not be until after the court date? Or is it when he gets served?

Even if there is no restraining order in place yet, you can still call the police for assistance if you are being harassed.

 

Make a note of every incident. Try to get a photo or video evidence to back up your claim. Never, ever speak to him or react to him again.

I think it goes into effect when he gets served. when he does get served, I suggest you have a friend stay over or stay with someone else for a night or two, just so you feel comfortable and safe.

Tap your own phone, keep a journal, take photos if you can, anything to get him on the law enforcement's bad side, and hopefully he won't take it too far.

I agree with Cloud. It will get very tiresom if he is dragged into court for violating the order but you have to ensure you don't let minor things go as this gives him permission to take it another step further. Log every incident and always report it.
