Window treatment help/advice

Does anyone have solar screens, window film, window tint on the windows in their house? What do you like/not like about them?

 

All of the windows in my home face east or west. Currently, I have blinds or curtains curtains or both on all of them, but there's still a lot of heat that comes in. If I want to open the curtains or blinds, the amount of sunlight is almost blinding. My air conditioner is new, but it runs constantly.

 

It would be nice to conserve energy/save money and also be able to look out of my windows or doors without sunglasses.

 

Oh, I'd like to add that I replaced all the windows and sliding doors a few years ago-so it's not a matter of old windows.
