Jetta
I need to know where to look when having a regular, friendly type conversation with a person. I tend to look people in the eye a lot which I'm finding is taken as a flirtatious thing. During interviews, business conversations, etc. Where do you look? Link to comment
ladyluck
well, if you feel it's flirtatious try a stern but pleasant look in the eyes and if it still don't work try looking at their nose or mouth so they know your paying attention when they talk Link to comment
DragonGirl724
look at their face........ -DG724 Link to comment
Kaia
I have the same questions as well! If you look at people other than their eyes, would they notice? (you can really annoy people if you keep staring at their forehead, but I guess it's different if it's their nose... I really don't know..) During interview I usually look keen at their eyes to show that I'm really interested on the position. But it's really hard when there's only one interviewer, I feel uncomfortable staring at him the whole time (maybe I shouldn't stare...) If there are more than one interviewers I have an easier time by switching focus on different person ... sometimes I can catch the other person getting bored and engage them into conversation. FuriousSam
Looking in their eyes when you talk is ok and especially important when you are in the professional setting. And a lot of times when you look people in the eyes when talking shows that you are interested in what the other person has to say which can be mistaken for being interested in the person. Don't just rely on eye contact to tell if a someone is interested because of the said reason above. Link to comment
Jetta
My problem is I generally get mistook for flirting when in fact I'm just paying attention. That is why I asked this question. Thank you for the responses. Link to comment
FuriousSam
Some people are natural flirts no matter where they look. Link to comment
eviljedi
Whatever you do, don't look at their mouth, that makes people think you want to kiss them Link to comment
Jetta
Well I have deep set eyes, and perhaps my pupils dilate more. Not sure. I do believe I tilt my head so maybe that's it. I don't think I'm staring but I'll keep that in mind. Link to comment
