Can you go sterile from being anorexic?

My girlfriend was anorexic from age like 9-14 and didn't have her period for a really long time.

I know I shouldn't worry about it but is it possible that she could be sterile?

According to WebMd's article on Anorexia: "Along with the lower body weight, girls with anorexia nervosa can lose their menstrual periods (amenorrhea). The loss of periods is associated with osteopenia, early bone loss that can lead to painful fractures."

 

It doesn't say if the amenorrhea can cause sterility though...

If she's started having her period, then she's not sterile.

 

However, if she's not, then it could be due to the anorexia or just her young age. Some girls can get their periods rather late.

The short answer is yes, a woman can absolutely go sterile from being anorexic.

My aunt was severely anorexic for a long time and didn't have her period for years.

 

Now, she has three girls. She didn't have trouble getting pregnant.

anorexia is a very bad problem. you can lose more than just eggs. your body starts to eat itself and organs end up dying too. anything can happen.

Yes, sadly when the body is starved of nutrients the reproductive system is the first thing to go.
